Any guesses on our MME NCM battery life expectancy??

Bought my MME GTPE last month and love this car! Was thinking about how long I could realistically keep it before the battery is ready to be trashed. I’d appreciate anyone’s thoughts on how many years you would expect to get out of your MMEs batteries? I charge about 40% 5 nights a week to 90% each time, and park in my garage.

Wow thanks for the video! That was so detailed and the ultimate conclusion is promising! I’m surprised these batteries will last so long. No clue why people are so against EVs. I don’t think I’m going back to ICE again.

I work for a company that uses 150 kWh (usable! 175 kWh theoretical) NMC batteries for very high capacity forklifts (36,000 lbs capacity to 75,000 lbs). When we did the research 5 years ago, the predictions at that time were that the battery would last approximately 2000 full charge cycles where a full charge cycle to 100% of usable is about 85% of max theoretical. If similar numbers hold for my 2022 GTPE, then I expect somewhere about 400,000 miles with less than 20% capacity degradation. Of course, I may not be around for that many miles.... A friend of mine purchased one of the first Tesla Model S sedans and "commuted" between Santa Barbara and San Jose a couple of times each week, racking up close to 300,000 miles over a number of years. He measured about a 10% battery degradation during that time, most of that in the 1st year of driving. He went through several sets of tires....

Absolutely insane! So basically battery degradation shouldn’t be a worry for us then… Appreciate your input man. Really good info. It’s good to know because I’ve seen articles saying 3-5 years for battery life and I was like no way…

If the battery only lasted that long a 8 year warranty would be insane. At a minimum ford is saying 100k and 8 years so if you get that long without needing it 15 doesn’t seem crazy.

3-5 years is probably true for a vast number of make/model ICE/Hybrid/BEV

Ahh ok! I’m still learning all this… amateur hour here haha. So that 12v is a cheap battery replacement just like any ICE battery would be then. Whew! Thank you all!
