Absolutely insane! So basically battery degradation shouldn’t be a worry for us then… Appreciate your input man. Really good info. It’s good to know because I’ve seen articles saying 3-5 years for battery life and I was like no way…
The warranty is 8 years but the design life is probably more like 15-20 years and between 1200-1500 cycles (equivalent of 0->100% charges). If you figure 230 miles per cycle and 1200 cycles, it’s pushing 300k miles. I’d guess more like 500k miles before the battery is at 70%.

Basically, your car’s interior paneling, seats, wheel bearings, suspension components, etc will have all worn out before your battery ever hits 70%.

I had a 2013 LEAF with 90K miles with over 80% battery capacity that I sold in 2022.
I’ve seen newer ones with less miles with less than 30% capacity on cars.com

Way too many variables. Climate/Temperature and frequent DCFC are two major factors.

Battery chemistry and the programming of the battery management system determine nominal battery "life". Throwing in a comment about the early LEAF is like comparing the life of a Chevy Vega engine in a discussion about Mercedes diesels. My comments and info only apply to NMC chemistry in cylindrical cells. There are too many variables if you include any battery and any manufacturer. However the title of this thread specifically says "MME NCM" (more commonly known by NMC). To minimize confusion and irrelevant anecdotes about a wide range of batteries, I request we keep info to the NMC battery chemistry used in the MME.

Wow thanks for the video! That was so detailed and the ultimate conclusion is promising! I’m surprised these batteries will last so long. No clue why people are so against EVs. I don’t think I’m going back to ICE again.
SHHHH... reactions like this only result in an increased disinformation (AKA Lies) campaign by the Fossil Fuels Folks. That is why they have put so much energy into their cover up campaigns for so long: to prevent people from even test driving these quiet, powerful, low maintenance and long lasting machines.

Good point! NMC seems to have solid data supporting things said on this thread. LFP batteries seem to be new focus by manufacturers. Heard they last even longer, cheaper to produce, and more efficient. But they are not as good at power output and cold weather resistance.

Ahh ok! I’m still learning all this… amateur hour here haha. So that 12v is a cheap battery replacement just like any ICE battery would be then. Whew! Thank you all!
Cheap? Only in comparison to HVB.

I am assuming these are the batteries that are just like the ones you have to replace in regular ICE cars right?

Correct. However, most people are caught a little off guard when they hear the current AGM 12v batteries for today's modern ICE vehicles are around $200. Then there is the very limited availability of the very unique battery itself (the one for the MME only fits the MME and Lightning) , which can be a problem if the 12v battery is dead and will not accept a charge.
