Looks neat! I'd be interested to see what the rear camera sees when this is lit up, especially when in reverse.

I haven't even noticed the difference. I just went out in my garage and took this pic. I'll do another tonight when it's darker.

I put the light up pony on mine. Love the look, no issues with backup camera.

I am pretty competent working with electricity and electronics having worked as an Electronics Tech in my early career. The idea of me taking my brand new car apart like this gives me the willies. I guess having the pros install this and their remote tailgate products just means we don't see what they do. How does this affect the warranty.

It only affects the warranty for the parts of the car that the illuminated emblem touches. So, perhaps the electricals that are at the tail light connection that it tees into, the interior panel of the lift gate, and the emblem and emblem retaining stuff. ??

Yeah, that's what I figured. The emblem just plugs in basically unless you want the emblem to switch to white while in reverse. For that you have to tap into that wire. That was the only part that would concern me if I were a novice but it is pretty simple to do.

My other unknown question is would it be a concern if I had to switch back to the standard emblem if I turn the car in when Options is done. It would actually be very easy but a lot of tedious work. The LED emblem uses a lot of 3M tape to stay on.

Thank you for making that very detailed video, I have now received my kit from ev-vida, and I will be installing it soon, hopefully this weekend. I pinged Simon, and he said he could do it for me when he is in Seattle next week, but I'm actually 40 minutes away from downtown. After watching the video, I think I will be able to do it myself.

A challenge to install! The hard parts were getting a couple of panels off (corner pieces) and getting the backup wire through the rubber conduit (used a long screwdriver and gorilla tape). I'm a little concerned about the backup wire not being fastened to much in the bottom of the car by the backup light. I may splice on a thicker wire from the trunk to the light. The alternative would be to completely remove the cover underneath to get better access, so I could ziptie the wire to something down there. Also a plastic conduit to run the wire through would be good, going out of the trunk to the bottom area. Hopefully it will not come loose or rub off the insulation.

This really makes me want one! I had installed a white front lighted pony on my Premium without any issues. Wonder how much harder this one is?

In the video - from 8:34 - 9:20, he unclips the top AFTER the middle clips, then he says it makes it easier if you unclip it BEFORE the middle clips... On the other side 9:29 - 9:48, he unclips the top before the middle clips. I missed that because I looked at the right side where he unclipped it after the middle. I struggled getting those off, he makes it look easy but it was not easy! I thought I broke it, I just pulled hard since I could not just squeeze those as he says. There is a cable in the way. If you keep that in mind it may be easier.

While I never tried putting a pony light on the front of my previous FE, I would guess this to be substantially more difficult with the panels and rubber grommet. I almost gave up and returned the kit when I was struggling with the corner panels.

I hope you have better luck than I did with my lighted pony. First one was the multicolor one. It worked a few days then stopped lighting and kept one brake light on. The second one was just red and looked great for a few days. Then one taillight quit working and neither did the pony. EV-Vida did the right thing by refunding my money. I think they are very cool but if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Not sure if something is wacky with my car or just dumb luck.
