I've started using the frunk regularly and noticed that the car lights stay off, whereas when I open the trunk, all the lights (daytime running, side, and rear) turn on. I don't think this is okay. For safety reasons, I believe the lights should also turn on when using the frunk. Hey, @Ford Motor Company, what are your thoughts?

The frunk has its own light. No other lights are necessary.

I don't mention interior lights, the question is about exterior lights for safety reasons.
If it was required for safety, they would come on. Hit the lock or unlock button / fob, then lock when done.

Why then lights on when you open the trunk? Think
I'm not sure why the lights turn on when opening the rear hatch, but I figure it might be because it's linked to the locking mechanism of the doors. Just like they come on anytime you unlock any of the doors.

I'll try thinking, but still do not understand the safety issue aspect.

it’s not really a safety issue because the car has side reflectors (along with reflectors in the back) which are visible to passing vehicles at night.

Side reflectors does not catch drivers attention that someone is nearby the vehicle.

Simple example. As a driver in what situation you would expect less or more to hit someone when you passing the parked car, when that car has exterior lights on or off?

The purpose of exterior lights to stay on when open the vehicle doors, and trunk is to keep us and our family safe. Even welcome light with pony is for that, not only for to show how cool is the car.

@Ford Motor Company it is sad you missed that simple but very important feature. I’m surprised that for so many years nobody bring your attention to this issue. I hope you will read this thread and implement this feature as soon as possible. We are lucky that nothing bad happened till now but it doesn’t mean we’re protected. One life lost because of this is a big tragedy.

I think they already have a fix for this lined up, they will just deactivate the ability to open the frunk remotely, forcing the user to open the driver door to open the frunk.

I'm lucky, I actually have had this feature on mine since 2021!

So I would think the issue would be traffic coming from behind you, not coming toward you for me if I’m on the side of the road having a problem or doing something in the front, I definitely turned the hazard lights on and those should flash front and back just a thought!

Turn your parking lights on before opening your frunk If you’re in a situation requiring visibility.
Are you doing this when you open trunk or door? Nope. The frunk is a storage compartment as a trunk the workflow of exterior lights should be identical.

And also it’s doesn’t make sense what you suggest, because you already have exterior lights on when you opened the door to switch on hazard or parking lights.
