I have had my vehicle for 6 weeks and absolutely love it. I tried my first in the wild charge today. I checked FordPass and there was an EVgo station near me and FordPass said the cost was free. Good news. I drive to it. Plug in and start charging. Go grab something to eat. I come back to my car and it is at 80%. I thought I would let it go for a free more %. Get in my car and I get an alert from my credit card company of a $40 charge from Ford. What!?!? I called Ford and they were completely unhelpful and said I needed to call EVgo. That makes no sense to me as FordPass told me it was free and then Ford charged my for it. Am I missing something? Is this just a noob mistake?

This really sucks and I'm sorry it happened to you.

What I suspect is that the FordPass app had outdated data from that specific location (it's doubtful that FordPass gets real-time updates when these changes happen and there may well be a day or two lag).

I don't know if there's ever going to be a way past this and I suspect the best thing you can do is just check what the charger itself quotes for charges.

But those free credits only work on Electrify America. They don’t work on anything else, like EVGo.
Yep, ?? it’s just like I see Electrify America and Tesla in my Ford app. I know Tesla is not free either lol

OK, I know what you’re doing on the very front page where you see you’re charging percentage you’re clicking on view chargers you need to go under vehicle and then you need to go under blue network blue network or whatever and that’s where it’s gonna say Tesla and Electrify America those are just showing you charging stations on that first page But they’re gonna cost you

I’m sorry, but I mean wherever you’re at if you click on view chargers, it’s gonna show you chargers in that area but unless it’s Electrify America, you’re gonna get charged if you have some free kilowatt hours left over to charge that’s all. Like with me here and lower Mississippi there’s only one America in Gulfport area. The other is Tesla and the others are in other states.

Ok, maybe I am not smart enough to have an EV.

On the drive home of about 15 miles the % charge and range did not decrease at all. I have been home charging on my 120V for about 3 hours. The car says it is charging, but again the % charge and range have not increased at all. It should have gone up a little. Typically I have gotten 1% each hour.

I have gone out to the car a couple of other times to check and the Start Charging time keeps advancing to when I check it.

Finally, the last thing is my charge at the DC charger does not even show up in my Charge Log in FordPass.

Your charge level should increase about 1% per hour on 120V charging. If it does not, you might have a charger bug that requires a dealer software update to fix.

Both Ford and Rivian apps are showing that EVgo station as free. Plugshare says otherwise. Can someone with the EVgo app check the Brookville, OH station fee?

No mistake. I just looked up some EVGo chargers in FordPass including one that I have used in the past. FordPass does show them as free. Don’t know why but they never are free. Normal case is that DC fast chargers are never free. Electrify America has had some free holiday weekend charging promotions in the past but it’s been a while and I’m guessing that’s over. Then there’s your free 250 kw’s from Ford that are for Electrify America only. You may find some free level 2 charging at hotels, restaurants and some municipal locations like libraries or city parking lots.
