What nonsense kind of grocery store parking lots are you parking in? If it’s dark, that car you’re so worried about is going to have their headlights on. Those are designed to give the driver better visibility. You’re way overthinking this.
It’s clear, grocery store is an example. Check my photos where the car is parked on driveway, you can see the difference. And no, I’m not overthinking it’s just you have different opinion and different scenarios of using frunk. In my world when I finish work day and return to the car I would really want to have lights on, when I pack my staff in frunk.

No, I do see the difference between claiming a safety issue, then describing this safety issue existing in parking lots and driveways.
Ok, next time I will take better pictures. I will park my car on the public road and in full dark will take pictures from the middle of the road.
I'm trying to figure this out, why is it safer for driving lights to be on when the frunk is open? I'm thinking back on the two dozen ICE cars I've owned over the decades. I can't recall ANY that were front engined where the lights came on or stayed on when I opened the hood or the trunk.
You keep moving the goalposts. Do you park in the street or in your driveway, or in your garage? If you’re parking on the street, grow up and turn the lights on manually when you’re around the vehicle and it’s dark. If you’re in the driveway or the garage, you’re just whining to whine, grow up.
I see the problem, in people’s mind the frunk is engine compartment and it’s fine to work as on ICE cars. And Ford engineers approach to design frunk work flow was the same as on ICE cars. You open the hood much rare and usually just to fix something. If it’s happens on the road you turn hazard lights and take other precautions to stay safe. But look differently, in Mach-E it’s not an engine compartment anymore! It’s a storage space! That’s the point! I use frunk each day, my work day ends in different locations usually when dark already. It’s stupid to turn hazards lights and do other things just for few moments while I drop my belongings in frunk. More convenient and safe for lights came on when I hit the open frunk button when approaching to the car. The same way as trunk works.

I still think a headlight switch would work if you can't get anything else to work. I know a guy that never uses his turn signals. I asked him why he doesn't use his signals and he said he can drive fine without using them, so I guess he's just lazy and doesn't want to use a switch.
