And by "block" it was a big block in an industrial area, so it took like 10 minutes. On that break from my booth shift at the Earth Day event, I got a test drive of a Model S Plaid. Style-wise it has the S styling, which I think is just fine. Interiors felt a bit "dense" instead of "soft", for lack of a better term. The acceleration is super responsive, almost too much. I just can't get used to buttons as turn signals---I know the goal is to eliminate the buttons. A rep also did a ride along and they engaged Full Self Driving. It did many things right but other things, hm, well, hm. It has promise.

I got a loaner from Tesla a couple of months ago. It was a Model X Plaid. My impression. Of the acceleration was that it was fun to try, but so quick that it’s impractical for daily driving. Am I old?

Isn't there any way to moderate the acceleration with the pedal. I could say the same thing about the MME, but I am still able to start slowly and accelerate at a moderate speed. I don't drive it like a maniac even though I could.

There is a setting for Chill, as opposed to normal which tames the acceleration in a Tesla...

But why would anyone do that

If you describe the plaid acceleration as ā€œalmost too responsive,ā€ you had a few inches of travel left in the go pedal.

If I get a test drive I expect to describe the acceleration as ā€œholy hell!!!!ā€ Followed by me giggling a lot.

Haven’t driven a plaid, but did get to drive a Ferrari 296 GTB on a track a month ago. I couldn’t resist giggling hitting 140 in the straights.

For sure. We were on city streets with potholes everywhere. I did ask the rep if I could go fast on this one small straight and after she said yes I punched the pedal. Our phones suddenly became projectiles.

Well, this came by the house today. I’m not sure what he’s gonna put them on, but he bought my stock wheels and tires from my Mach e GT, but I went for a ride in his ā€˜22 Y performance while here!

I'm well aware I can make my stomach lurch driving my own car ?.

You would think, no, I'm in control here. I want to do this.

Then you really lay into the accelerator in one of these high powered BEVs and this happens....
