This is a great write-up. We're in the middle of a 1500 mile trip right now, and the only thing I disagree with is you saying the Mach-E is an incredible road tripping vehicle.

I think it's a decent road tripping vehicle, that could be incredible, if it charged faster. That's my only criticism of the car. Everything has been great.

Did you use Plug an Charge or go thru Tesla app to initiate session? Wondered if P&C recognized the Tesla membership for pricing. Thanks, enjoyed the post.

Plug and charge for the first 2 sessions. It did not recognize membership pricing. I then shut off p&c and initiated charging in the Tesla app for the next 29 charging sessions. Using the app was no big deal.

Wait does that mean Ford is working on a Supercharging extension cord with a built in NACS to CCS adapter?

Count me in if that’s the case!
I think he's referring to Ford as well as all other manufacturers will install the NACS portal as the native plug starting next year, thus abandoning CCS/Chademo. This most likely will morph over to the charging networks that currently utilize CCS. I suspect the NEVI program will eventually evolve too.

What mode were you driving in?

last weekend I drove 71 miles each way. In Whisper I seem to be getting 2.8 m/kwh. When I change that to Engage it seems to be 3.1 m/kwh. Going to Unbridled changed the trip reading to 3.3 m/kwh.

Blue Cruise is on the whole way and generally around 70 mph. Select smaller battery charged to 85%. GOM thinks 186 miles, however in Whisper it was under 40% after one way which seems wrong.

I am thinking that Whisper mode is not the right mode for highway BC driving.

I've only ever used Engage. Never driven in the other modes except to test in the first few days of ownership.

I am sure you are correct, but this makes no sense to me. I thought these modes just changed the pedal response and regen? What is Unbridled does the car do to make it more efficient?

Actually, as I think about it - I use one pedal driving. Do you? If not, then maybe the increased regen that comes with Unbridled helped with your efficiency?

In most cases, I think you will find it unnecessary. In all but 1 of our 31 charging sessions, there were many open stalls. In that case, so what if we took up 2 stalls? Plus, in close to half of our charging sessions, there was a stall oriented so we could pull right up to it, like shown in photo 1, and therefore only occupy 1 stall.
Did you have any trouble getting close enough to the supercharger to plug in the cable? Any high curbs that you couldn't pull over?

Not really, no. Occasionally there would be a sign or a trash can in the way, but we would just pull to the next stall.

My wife and I drove across New Mexico and Texas in our 2022 Mach-E Premium AWD to see the eclipse, and I kept indulging my lead foot to drive the speed limit in Texas of 80mph, so my mileage was poor. That combined with the fact that public DCFC electric rates are relatively high in Texas and the price of gas is lower in Texas than most states so spent more on charging than I would have spent in an average gas car. Otherwise, the Mach-E was wonderful on the road trip, and we saw several other Mach-Es at our charge stops, plus a couple of Lightnings, one towing a trailer.

I was surprised too. My thought is that with one pedal driving on and BC, when cars in front of me slow me down, I gain efficiency. I remember one YouTube video where the MME owner drove the whole trip in Unbridled and I assumed could have gotten better M/KWH with Whisper but now I am not sure. Will need to test...
