I drive a Mach-E '21. BlueCruise 1.0 never came OTA for me. I had to get it installed at the dealership. This week I took it into the dealership for the 30,000 mile service, and I asked them to upgrade my BlueCruise from 1.0 to the current 1.3. After 2(!) days of back-and-forth, they finally told me that this upgrade couldn't be done at the dealership. I would have to wait for the OTA.

Does this sound right? Or are they just blowing me off?

Thanks.

More recent model years shipped with 1.2 or 1.3 from the factory, but those versions were never delivered OTA nor via dealer service departments.

Most customers, including most of the 2021 model year customers, continue to wait for BC 1.4 OTA. It's not available through dealers. They are not able to install it yet.

See above. All that being said, if you update all your modules via FDRS, and then do it again, after the dust settles, you will have almost all of the operational functionality of 1.4 except lane changing. I can’t wait to try that one out.

Lane change feature works. It’s pretty amazing.

The BlueCruise update to 1.4 will eventually reach your 2021 vehicle, but it may be after your battery has reached end-of-life and you've moved on to another EV.

Just look at this post from over 1-yr ago when @available_username2 was shouting that a BC update was coming "in a few weeks".

Nobody knows when the update is coming and Ford assumes most are happy with their original BC version. You can vote with your dollars by not paying for a subscription until you are updated.

Well, sorta. Here in SoCal if you turn your signal on before you start your lane change that gap that you thought you had will quickly close as the person in that lane will speed up to keep you from coming over. Unfortunately the lane change feature starts the signal and then looks around. This frequently causes the lane change to abort as the gap has closed.

I believe that the sensors should always be monitoring the traffic so that it knows that a lane change is available and then immediately start the lane change when the signal stalk is pressed. I mentioned this in the EA forum and got crickets as a response.

However, it is a pretty cool feature when there's little or no traffic around.

That’s true here too if you’re on 66 during rush hour. But headed west toward the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Valley during off peak times, it’s good. Frankly, I am undecided whether I’m going to subscribe when my trial is over in a month. I’m probably just as content steering the car myself while utilizing the adaptive cruise control. Possibly better ways to spend, or not spend, the subscription money.

Massachusetts works the same way. Only way to do it here is activate your signal after you've started the lane change, and even then people will still run up on you. Not sure there's a way BC could be fast enough for a lane change in moderate to heavy traffic based on other people's behavior.

Please PM me the link to the EA forum. I am enrolled in EA, but did not know of a specific forum for discussion.

that was before they even announced that an update was coming though. So the rumor that there was an update was correct.

My dealer told me a few days ago that they could update me to 1.3, but it would take 48 hours to download on their system and they would charge hourly for a total of $10,000. Since I own a current subscription to BC, that's not only wrong, it's fraud. I think what they meant to say was "Buzz off, we don't know what we are doing so leave us alone." I'm pretty sure I won't get the update until my subscription runs out and they will try to sell me a new one with a promise to get me the update. I'm also pretty sure no one would pay for this kind of "service."

WHAT? ?

That's defiantly the "buzz-off" price right there... Does not take more 8 hours.
