Again, thanks for everyone that replied, especially benk061. That was it. I didn't press the brake pedal as I turned it on. The saleswoman was in the back seat and just assumed I did. When we went back today, I tried it and within two seconds, I was freezing. The saleswoman apologized several times. Driving a gas car, you don't have to put your foot on the brake until you want to shift into gear.

I've ridden an electric bike for 18 years/22,000 miles. This is my first electric car. We pick it up tomorrow if the paperwork is ready. She gave me $1800 off list, did not try to get me to buy any extras (paint protection, fabric protection, extended warranty . . .) and did not add any mystery fees. We were ready to put a big down payment, but they offered 48 months at zero down and zero interest. Uhhh, OK.

the AC compressor is so outrageously loud (like a jet turbine) there should be no mistake when it should be pumping out cold air.

Really? None of the gas cars in my family will start without the brake depressed.
Generally true for the “keyless” keys. If the car has a physical key that gets inserted into the ignition switch, it usually doesn’t require brake pedal to start.

I don’t think I’ve driven a car without push button start in over 10 years.

You can buy the Ford extended warranty at any time up to the expiration of the standard warranty without an issue. There are a couple of dealers who will give you a good discount on the price should you decide to go that route. A couple of states don’t allow that type of sale but most do.

Maybe not. But could be from my days of driving a manual, I was taught never to start a car without your foot on the brake.

Also, I noticed on the Ford website that the Select model was not available until October. Are they prioritizing the more expensive models currently? We are retired and don't do road trips anymore. The farthest we go is 100-mile round trip when we visit the "big" city. 250-mile range with the LFP battery would be plenty.
Get a '23 or earlier GTPE or any '24 GT. The magnaride suspension is a total game changer for ride comfort and body control. Skimp and you'll likely regret it, many do.
