I noticed today that my blue cruise following distance is not using the vehicle in front of me but the vehicle that’s in the lane left to me. My vehicle was one that experienced the driver facing camera issue and has received the update. My Blue Cruise operates like normal hands-free works, but it is noticing the car to the left of me. It does not slow down for the vehicle in front of me. If I moved to the lane that is closest to the center divider I don’t have issues and it notices the car in front of me. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I looked at my windshield and cameras, and there are no defects that are noticeable and are clean.

The adaptive cruise uses a radar system that is located in between the grill shutters. Maybe your radar is out of alignment? Your dealer should be able to get that fixed.

Can you explain how you arrived at that conclusion? Are you just assuming it's following a car to your left because it works in the leftmost lane? Were you coming up fast on a car ahead of you? Were you in a right hand curve? Has your vehicle ever had any front end damage or scraped the chin on a curb?

I have a hard time believing the sensor alignment could be that far off without you getting a bunch of other errors and false collision alerts.

This exact thing happened to me. It was the radar misalignment issue. Cost around $900 to fix and was not covered by warranty because two dealers claimed this must have been caused by an impact (there was no impact)

What did they do to fix it? And were there warnings or errors?

At first it started as OP describes, then over time it degenerated into ghost breaking / collision warning alerts and Blue cruise errors then finally front camera fault.

They repaired the bracket that holds the radar in alignment.

I was going straight on i80 and after a few times of the can now slowing down I noticed when a car would pass on the left it would slow. Then found when moving to the fast lane it would properly. I turned out to be. Radar that was not properly seated in the mount for it (hanging by the wire). I haven’t tested since it was fixed but I’m surprised it worked when was misaligned that bad.
