I have a '21 Premium AWD extended range, scheduled in a few weeks for the recall repair. The car is leased, end of lease is Jan. '25, will be turning it in for a new one. I never charge on the road, don't take long trips. I've seen some issues after the repair. Should I have it done, or just skip it? I've been going back and forth with this.

Have it done. I had the same experience as you but have a 22GT. No issues before and none after. I will say this though that if you really are not worried about getting the SVS error then you could just wait but I would, and did, have mine done. I turn mine back in April 26.

How long did it take for the repair? Thanks for the reply.

It is only 9 hours of work. I dropped mine off on a Thursday and got it back Friday. Many commentators state the same but others have taken longer. But that is why the recall comes with 2 day rental. I did not use it as I have two cars.

The rental part is interesting. I tried to schedule at a dealer closer to my home, not the dealer I purchased from. They wouldn't give me a rental because I didn't purchase there. I changed to my selling dealer, but they're offering a shuttle, which is super inconvenient. Is any dealer obligated to provide a loaner/rental regardless of whether or not they sold you the car?

The language in the recall provides for a rental or a loaner. The dealer should re-read the recall instructions. ??

Had it done. One day no issues. Got a loaner from the dealer.

I would ask if they have done this before. They owe you a loaner for that.

They want my car for a week!
Some dealers appear to be pathetic with scheduling. You have to drop off your car and they get to when they can and not at a certain time. That sucks! The recall specifically calls out for a two day rental.

Given your use case, I wouldn’t have it done unless the dealer offered a loaner/rental. Let them deal with it after you turn it in.

My dealer only had my car 1 day, it was the first one they did.

My case was a bit of an outlier - I sent the car in on 4/1, a Monday, for the windshield & roof recalls, the HVBJB work, and some other minor CSPs/recalls.

The service advisor told me everything would take "a few days." He also (incorrectly) told me that they needed to get the car in and drop the battery pack and inspect something before ordering the parts. I had not yet received the "your parts are ready, call to schedule" email. The glass was done by the end of the second day. Other parts arrived in dribs and drabs. It took them 17 days to complete what should have been 6 days of work.

If I had to do it over again, I would not have had any of the recall work done.

There were some other events that made the whole thing even worse than just the 17 days but unless you have my horrible luck, those shouldn't really be a consideration.

Right now, I'm leaning heavily to not getting it done. Ford covers only 40 bucks per day. You can't get a daily rate near that around here. AND they prefer that the rental is a Ford.

My 22 premium is in the shop right now for this recall. They didn’t order the part until they dropped the battery. They said it would be done in 3 days. No loaner but I didn’t need one, maybe I should have insisted. I also asked them to look at the air conditioner because of the loud hum which others have mentioned in this forum. I hope that doesn’t slow it down.

I just had mine done. They did the recall plus had to replace the glass roof due to a crack caused by a rock. I dropped the car off last Thursday morning and picked it up yesterday morning. The dealer did arrange for a loaner vehicle.
