What's hilarious is when they designed this car they said "vehicles no longer need fog lights, headlights are advanced enough to eliminate them" and now you've got the Mach-E Rally with them from the factory. Full circle.

No actual answer for your question though, other than to look into how expensive the Mach-E Rally bumper cover and lights are from OEM. I'm sure ridiculously expensive.

At first, I thought it odd that a vehicle at this price point didn't come with factory fog lights. They seem to be standard equipment on nearly everything that isn't a bare bones exonobox.

That said, I don't feel as though they're really needed most of the time. I find the headlights in my Mach-E to be far and away the best headlights of any vehicle I've even owned or driven!

I might be interested in adding fog lamps if there were a way to make them look factory. I don't mind putting light bars and such on my Subarus, but I'd want something a little more integrated looking on my Mach-E.

FYI - there is a fog light option for the Mach E... a rear fog light (so no one runs into your car in a fog). Unfortunately, it's sold by Ford only in Europe... I guess heavy fog is unheard of here in North America

I bought and installed it. Works well... I used it several times, especially up in the mountains and in very heavy rain.

The HOW TO installation thread is in the DIY section... or here:

The first thing I thought about when seeing the Rally is 'how do I put those on my 2023 AWD Premium?' I wonder if support would be needed behind the black section? I would also like something that is close to the same lumens and have the ability to make slight adjustments of the beam angle if possible. I'll be following this thread to see others suggest.

Because I'm underwhelmed with the output of my Rally fog lamps, I went searching for some options. I found this kit which seems to be better and brighter (claims to be directional).

However, after learning that I'd have to install the supplied 3-way toggle switch in order to turn on the halo portion of the lamp, and that one has to remove the front bumper assembly to access the mounting points, I decided to leave it alone for now. If the fog was really bad I'd probably take my F-150 rather than the Mach E anyway.

If anyone here tries out these lamps, please report back!

I don't have experience with the Blinglights or the Rally OEM lights.

That said, the OEM light looks too high to me to be effective as an actual fog light. That raises a question in my mind of whether a replacement light is worth it for a non-competition car.

For fog lights to be truly effective, they should be mounted low to illuminate under the fog/snow/heavy rain, preferably toward the extremities of the bumper, have a very sharp cutoff, and a wide pattern that illuminates beyond the fog line and center line in addition to, obviously, in front of the car. In addition, it is not desirable to have headlights reflecting off the fog/snow/heavy rain. That reflection is what 'blinds' us in those conditions and what gave birth to fog lights so very long ago.

Modern lighting systems are infinitely more evolved than lighting systems of the 60s/70s and even 80s (or even more recently), and some may have a sharp enough cutoff pattern to mitigate the reflection problem.

Back in the day, we just mounted fog lights under the chrome bumpers and wired them to work independently of headlights. Regulations now require OEM manufacturers to limit fog light functionality to when low beams are on. Somewhat counterproductive. On the other hand, I suppose the rationale was to stop people from just using fog lights in non-fog situations when they should have used headlights to have appropriate illumination for the circumstances.

It might not be worth the effort to replace the OEM rally lights ... but either way, do what works for you, and good luck with it and enjoy the car!

One thing you should check is if the fog lamps are aimed correctly. They should be aimed just slightly down from level (-1.0Âş). For whether reason, the fog lights on every single Ford vehicle I've had always come aimed too far down from the factory. After aiming them correctly, it makes a world of difference. I'm curious what you find on the Mach-E. If you park on a flat garage floor, you can take a tape measure and measure the height of the lamp above the floor, then measure the height of the fog lamp beam at least 5 feet in front of the car. It should be almost the same measurement. If the far measurement is more than an inch lower the lamp height, then they are aimed down too far (see below table).

Here is the math for a proper 1.0Âş drop on a fog light:

Distance from fog lamp (feet)-1.0Âş Beam drop (inches)
0'0.00"
5'1.05"
10'2.09"
15'3.14"
20'4.19"
25'5.24"
50'10.47"
