Looks like a very mild upgrade of the original - they've eliminated the bottom slide lock, so everything is controlled with the top latch.

If I am understanding the A2Z website, it appears this new model consolidates the locking / latching functions into one top mounted lever. If I am recalling the “base” Typhoon correctly, it has a slide lock for the NACS on the bottom side of the “barrel” … or is that brand “L”? …

Nope you are correct. The slide lock was on the original version, which I owned until I received my Ford-supplied adapter. Some folks were having issues moving it into the locked position because the adapter was a very tight fit onto the NACS plug the first few uses, and they did not have the NACS plug pushed in far enough. This prevented them from engaging the sliding lock. I assume this update will address that issue.

The original model has a sliding switch to lock the NACS cable. It has a tight fit and you wont be able to “lock” the adapter on unless it is fully seated in the socket. This can be difficult to do for the first few attempts — but it does get easier after you’ve used it a few times.

I had ordered a Tyhoon but it has not shipped yet. I just talked a very helpful A2Z rep in Québec. We changed the order to the Pro and added a Stellar. The delta was about $85 USD additional. Shipping is estimated to be in 3 weeks. My Ford adapter number is 75,100. Still showing September, 2024. I suspect that’s optimistic. So that’s all the news that’s fit to print. From me and Pebbles the Poodle, enjoy the rest of your day wherever that may be.??

I do know Steve and Grady the actual hunting pudel! But, only electronically. Steve has been very helpful to me on MME and general garage issues. Super guy. Pebbles desperately wants to meet Grady and go to a drive in movie with Grady and sit in the frunk with Grady like a rumble seat, with the hood up of course so the “parents” can’t see the “kids”. Steve lives in the Bay Area and I’m back east in NoVA so our paths may not cross in person. I’ve met Martin, 21 st Century Pony. Another great guy and super helpful. We installed the forward trunk hooks in my car and Martin did some Forscan and FDRS magic on my car. Good stuff. There are loads of good and helpful people on this forum. ?

As an initially frustrated but now working original Typhoon user, great to see they've got an update working and available! I like a company that learns and updates this fast.

I am at ford adapter queue number about 30k, but I fast charge so rarely, so I'll just hang on to my original.

are you kidding me??? Just a week or so after I got the og?

anyway, good to see them improving the product, though they should just replace the og with this as a v2 iteration without users having to ask.

Also surprised it doesn’t have a lock like the stellar adapter for vehicles that don’t lock on DC fast charging.

They kept waiting and waiting for you to order the original for them to release this new one. ?

This is the new second version of the Typhoon adapter that eliminates the problematic slide latch. We've been expecting this for a while. Looks like the original model has been discontinued in favor of this.
