Technically you're tied for 29th. Don't sell yourself short!
There are only 50 states. It’s not possible to have fewer than 0 MagicDock stations. ;)

I think a lot of the build-out hinges on the support the state provides. I know that here in NY, they gave out a lot of money to install DC fast chargers along major routes. In the North country we are lucky that Stewarts Shops bought into EV's as a sales helper. They have a lot of shops along Parelle routes to I 87.
Some states are adverse to EV's and don't see he benefit.

That's exactly why the federal dollars were so important, to get these states off their butts. Every state submitted a plan, every plan was approved, and now it's up to them to carry them out.

Odd that of the 3 locations in WA State that Quincy and Moses Lake are so close to each other.

TL;DR: NY didn’t wait for federal funds to build out a state-wide charging network.

The NY Power Authority (NYPA) manages the Niagara and St Lawrence hydroelectric projects took the lead by creating the EVolve NY network which is branded as EA and EVConnect, which can make them sometimes hard to find using the typical in-vehicle charging network filters.?

As far as I can tell there are no NEVI sites up and running but these will just further expand the multiple charging networks already in use.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Number of Magic Dock locations, by state, as of 7/7/24 - 70 locations, 736 chargers (US), 3 locations, 24 chargers (Canada) 1720485446781-8t

NYPA manages much more than that. They have a secure bunker in the state campus that they can monitor and control the whole states grid from. Unfortunately, there has been no interest in the rt 30, rt 8, rt 10 corridors. Major vacation travel routes as well as Colledge. There are six just in the Potsdam-Canton area. And it's a long way around going up I 87 and rt 11.

I'm kind of shocked that Western PA has one while Hawaii has zero.
I'm shocked with Tela now being based in Austin, that there is only 1 location in Texas

Out of curiosity, I tried to use the V3 magic dock here in the Pittsburgh, PA region last night. Once I got the adapter to eject, I realized I wasn't parked close enough to the charger. It looked like I'd have to get the chin of my car over the concrete edge to be close enough.

I decided I wasn't curious anymore and left.

There are 16 charging stalls there, and only 1 was actually being used. A block away is an EVGo station with 4 stalls, higher prices per kWh, and all 4 of them being used.

I'm not an economist, but it seems to me that Tesla is sacrificing a lot of money building V3 stations with magic docks and short cables. Either use longer cables, or don't waste the money with the magic docks.

You have multiple options, as explained in many threads.

Use camera to pull between 2 pumps, checking that spoiler clears curb.

Park at an angle. Takes 2 spots. Totally fine.

Use end unit if different layout.

I was actually parked to the right of the charger at the right end. I just couldn't get close enough to the physical charger. It looked like my chin (air splitter) would have scraped on the concrete curb if I tried to get closer.

I could have pulled in at an angle (or even completely sidewise considering there was only 1 other car there), but I wasn't curious enough to get back in my car and move it. I didn't NEED to charge. I was just curious about using the magic dock.

My comments on the lost economics are based on what would happen if it was a busier charging spot. Then there wouldn't be room for people to pull in sidewise, at angles, or on the right side of the charger. I don't think there would be an issue with V4 chargers and their longer cables. (I don't know this - I've never seen a tesla V4 station.)

Yep. Hell, if only 1 of 16 is in use, I'd park sideways and block 3 if that was the only way that worked. I wouldn't do that if it were busy but they rarely are.
I've used a dozen different SCs across many states, and I was able to park normally at all of them. But I'm sure there's some that still have curb problems.

Correct. V4s have 9' cables and are usually centered in the parking spot, where it can reach either side. V3 cables are only 6', and usually located in the corner of the parking spot (when in a row across the front).

I’m charging right now at a Tesla spot in Northridge. It’s empty. It’s 6am on Saturday. This one isn’t v4 and had to take up two spots and the charging has cut out twice, but otherwise seamless use of the adapter. Based on limited experience, EA is faster and has never cut out on me yet, but this is fine and a lot closer to my in laws house.

Which adapter - Ford, Lectron, or A2Z?
What is the current temperature? Looks to be 70, so if it has cut out it's not due to temp.

Ford adapter, my wife’s 2022 Mach e. It was about 70. I have no clue why it cut out, but reinserting the cable fixed the issue.

It didn’t take even a year to get really used to charging at home! My car is at home, charged up on the cheap $.15/kw. Those are the twin beauties of ev ownership for me, I was the one that used to gas up both of our vehicles and it’s a lot cheaper and a lot easier to never go to a gas station. Figuring out charging stations when we’re away from home is a step in the right direction too.
