I got my Mach E in December 2023 - Extended Range AWD, but would only get up to around 250 miles per charge. Then at around 700 miles, one of the motors broke. It spent around 2 months at the dealer getting repaired.

But things have always kind of been weird with this car. Kick to open doesn't work. The key pad to unlock the car works to unlock, but not to lock (both 7/8-9/0 or the lock icon). The hatch needs two button presses to open fully, usually. The collision protection will kick in even when there's two car lengths of space. The new software update came in and said charging assist is being moved, but I don't have that app at all. Sync will freeze up requiring a reboot, and will frequently disconnect my phone via Bluetooth when using Android Auto. My L3 charge rate above 80% is like 20 kW

In general I like the car, but it just feels like I've got a wonky piece of tech, you know? Curious if this is normal or not.

No MY23s have the kick hatch feature (even though they decide to put the instruction sticker on all the hatches still). The 2 presses to open the hatch is a bug, I think there's a TSB or SSM for it, either way there's a fix for it you just have to take it to the dealer to get that fixed. I don't know exactly what the charge curve is but the Mach E is known to not have that great of a charge curve, especially at higher SoCs.

I don’t think you are in Lemon territory, but unfortunate you have so many issues. I think you need some OTA’s.

1. Kick to open was not delivered on our 2023 car. That is definitely a feature I feel like I should have received. It feels like bait and switch because the previous year had it. The 2023’s did not.

2. Doorpad locking. I don’t use that frequently. I walk away and it locks. Like a boss.

3. I had the hatch problem for a bit, and it was super-annoying. I find it happens if the hatch is close to a wall of if you are right behind it. I haven’t noted the problem in a few months so I wonder if it was magically fixed somewhere after OTA 6.8.0. I believe they were attempting to address the complaint where the hatch would open into things.

4. Collision Assist seems to be speed sensitive. I know if I am flying into the garage it doesn’t like it, but if I am a bit slower it doesn’t panic. I’m not saying you drive aggressively…but the collision alarm may feel that way. :whew: I have only set off the collision alarm once, and it was right to panic. #hoonigan.

5. Do you have 6.14 with the new icons yet? There were definitely some AA and CarPlay improvements in the last year.

22’s did not have kick to open either.

The bug stops it from opening all the way when the car is locked. First click unlocks the car and pops the trunk some, second opens it fully.

It was fixed with software updates.

I’m assuming Oregon is in the US.
It is! And yes, I'm in the States.

I was going like 25 mph where that was the speed limit - and the car in front was matched. I was so confused I looked behind me to see if that was the problem. Maybe the sensors need cleaning? It went off for like 5-10 seconds, it was bizzare

And yeah, I do have 6.14. But I've never had the Public Charging / Charge Assist app. I didn't even know it existed.

Lemon laws are different in different states and your asking a legal question on an Internet forum that likely doesn’t have many legal professionals.

Just as an analogy, if you had a horrible pain in your chest, would you ask about it here, or call a medical professional?

Public charging didn’t get sent out to everyone, even though be patch notes indicate it should have.

I've already looked up the law, and if my car goes back into the shop it qualifies. 30 days cumulative, and I've already blown past that. My question is more about whether the fiddly bits are normal or not - as in, would the hassle of the swap even be worth it or would I just get the same thing again.

Didn't the first couple of months had it? I think my previous Job 1 22 had the hardware but I never activated it. The Job 2s had a discount on the window sticker.

Kick to open hasn’t been a thing since 2021. Some 2022s were able to activate it though through Forescan as a few came with the hardware.
The collision protection will kick in even when there's two car lengths of space.
Try decreasing the sensitivity to the lowest setting. It’s still a bit temperamental though. I see it go off most often when a car is making a right turn and slowing way down during the turn.

At least in Maine, it'd have to go back in for the same or a related issue. If that motor has more issues, yeah, worth trying the lemon law process, but otherwise, I am skeptical it will pass.

The lock button on the door works as long as the keyfob is in range, or if PAAK is active. If yours isn't, probably worth asking your service department about it.

Sync does freeze occasionally, and Bluetooth sometimes disconnects, but I think Bluetooth gets a bit more confused when I have multiple devices connected to my phone, like if my Bluetooth headset is connected when I get in the car to drive. Bluetooth also may be more wonky depending on the phone.
