So when Fenix said "I wish there was a tell short of traveling to a level 3 charger"

and you said "If you got the update at the dealer, you have it. Simple."

what you meant was "ask a forum member to look up your VIN number and see if the dealer properly installed your update, and if so, you have the new improved charging curve."

I'm not trying to be a pain, but it really isn't "simple" and having to rely on another forum member to look up your car is not a self-applicable indicator. THAT is what we need.
100% correct.
Even if the dealer says they updated the car, they may not have performed it correctly.
Updating the modules in this car is remarkably complicated and quite easy for the tech to miss a step and end up with an incomplete transfer. This is probably why Ford is only having this calibration applied to cars that are already at the dealership for some other reason.

From my perspective, either a person trusts their dealer at their word or they don't.

Some dealers think they installed the update but actually didn't. They literally believed they did it correctly but when checked by someone who knows how to read the PTS screens.....turns out it didn't happen. True story.

I suspect the main reason is that the dealers don't want their service schedules filled up with Mach-E courtesy updates as they're already impacted by staff shortages compounded by recent Covid outbreaks and holidays.

And most dealerships have a small number of EV-certified techs.
