Do I have the updated DCFC charging curve?

At the risk of receiving ire for not searching the forums or "doing the work", I'm stumped as to how I figure out whether my car has the updated DCFC charging curve. I have a '21 Premium AWD Extended Battery. It was "built" on 8/21, but sat in chip hold for a month and was finally marked as "shipped" on 9/21.

In the car, on System Updates, it indicates that I'm "Up to Date", but doesn't tell me what update level I'm on (that I can find). BTW, I do have BlueCruise active on the car, so it at least came with that. I apparently received 3 years subscription to BlueCruise with the purchase.

I have not yet used public DCFC (I've only had the car 3 weeks), but I'm doing a road-trip from CO to Las Vegas on Sunday. I'm in the midst of planning, and knowing whether I have the updated charging curve plays a role in the planning.

Is there an easy way to tell what update level I'm on, and whether that update also includes the updated charging curve?

Thanks for not flaming me

You have a Job2 vehicle which has no updates available for charge curve. At 80% charge DCFC will drop to about 14 kW from my personal experience. At that point you'll want to leave the charger because 80-100 is painfully slow and not worth the time.

In summary, plan on leaving the charger at 80% and plan your route accordingly.

Nope, you'll have to wait and see. My guess is you won't have it since the software come out a month ago. Plan your route for 15-80% charging stops.

  1. Charge it to a little under 80% at home (say 75%) and precondition the car before leaving
  2. Take it to a DCFC
  3. Note the kw that the car is getting after the first minute of charging, and if it is not at least 30kw move to another charger to eliminate a problematic charger from screwing up the test
  4. note the kw that the car gets at over 80%
If you have the fix, at over 80% it should be well over 15 kw. If not, then you'll see 12kw or less

My car was built within days of yours. Used a Level 3 charger just the other day for the first time and the rate dropped to 11 kWh at 80%. Only Job 1 cars that have been flashed at the dealer for CSP 21P22 have the improved charging curve. Our Job 2 cars should be able to update OTA eventually.
For reference my car charged from 20% to 80% in one hour on a 62.5 kWh Chargepoint that was delivering 56 kWh. 80-90% took another hour.

If you got the update at the dealer, you have it. Simple.

I can definitively report that I do NOT have the updated curve. 6 charging stops yesterday on a drive to Las Vegas and everytime I hit 80%, rate dropped like a stone from high 70's to 12'ish kW.

Except that many people are reporting that they "Received the update" but the dealer didn't actually give them the update.

I'm sure this has been asked, but is the gt supposed to get this curve update? Ford's communication is just so terrible

Forum member with FDRS access looks up VIN to verify update.
So when Fenix said "I wish there was a tell short of traveling to a level 3 charger"

and you said "If you got the update at the dealer, you have it. Simple."

what you meant was "ask a forum member to look up your VIN number and see if the dealer properly installed your update, and if so, you have the new improved charging curve."

I'm not trying to be a pain, but it really isn't "simple" and having to rely on another forum member to look up your car is not a self-applicable indicator. THAT is what we need.

Or a dealer that does what they say they did. I suspect that's 90% of them.
