Question... have anyone else ran into a the issue where the Mach E have power, but unable to get into the car?

Woke up this morning unable to get into the car. I press the unlock on the key fob, light flashes but door remain locked... Thought maybe the battery some how died, so I plugged it in and the light flash orange indicating charge fault... So I tried to jump the frunk emergency release and nothing.... So I got a lock out service come and try to unlock with the manual override.. and still nothing...

So now, I'm waiting on it to be towed? Is this an issue anyone have seen in the pass? (2023 Mach E btw)

Several threads on this.

Can't lie, all these 2023 lock out threads are making me nervous though. I feel like my turn will be soon.

The only reason I've seen given so far is the 12V is dead but not really dead so you can't pop the frunk.

Yeah, there seems to be a recent rash of these lockouts on the 2023’s. You’re not alone. Search the forum and you’ll find the other cases and their experiences.

...and it happens to another 2023. This is actually starting to become very common.

* Battery isn't "dead enough" for the frunk to be opened with the 12v bumper wires.
* The fob doesn't unlock the car or open windows, but does flash lights.
* The FordPass app doesn't work to unlock the car

Some people who have reported this have also had a recent OTA update. Do you know if you did?

So far, there's been no resolution other than having a tow truck drag the car to a dealership. The dealerships seem to struggle getting into the car. Eventually they manage (not sure how) and from the limited "it's fixed now" reports, they replace the battery.

There have been MANY reports like this over the last 2 weeks. Probably 6-7 of them. While I realize you won't respond to this thread or make any statement about the issue, can you PLEASE report the trend to your supervisor(s)?

This is a serious concern and I'd like to think that Ford would want to get ahead of the issue...

Thanks for the reporting. I’ve seen the other threads on this problem and I’m keeping my jumpstart battery pack out of the car. Just in case.

I did a quick search of the thread if anyone else was having the same issue... but guess I didn't search the right thing... or didn't go far enough back through the results.

Yes you need to get it towed. Have you called roadside?
Yes I did

How will this help? From what I've read you can't get into the car at all as the theory is the 12V only mostly dead and there's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead (IYKYK). Therefore the frunk pop cables don't work and you can't get to the battery to jump the car. Unless you can wait out the 12V and it eventually completely dies.

I don’t know if it will help until something actually happens, but as pointed out to me in the past it’s better to have the jumpstart pack outside the car than inside. If it doesn’t work, then I have Ford roadside assistance and the dealer to deal with it.

Unfortunately, it won't be... The frunk jumper doesn't work at all. I have 2 battery jumper 1 I keep in the car and 1 out.. it definitely didn't help ?

@Gungrave223 What was the latest OTA you got? I wonder if it was one of the GWMs on 23s that’s causing this
The last one I got was about the improving diagnosis.

Ok. That’s enough of these reports for me! Turning off auto updates now. I have a 2023.5 Premium 4X purchased in March and was among the many, who, after months of no updates, recently got several in quick succession, including 6.14. I’m pleased with the new Sync icons and stability of the existing system. No need to risk it!

Based on other threads, it seems like the update that is designed to ease access to the vehicle by expanding the door unlock zones (ironically) may have the opposite effect when applied to 2023s—locking owners out entirely. I’m not going to risk getting locked out when the car is operating perfectly as is. So no more OTAs for me until it becomes clear that Ford’s software team has resolved this serious issue!

Sadly, we don't know for sure if it's related to an update, a specific update, the process of installing an OTA update or what...

It's also very hard to piece this together. I've tried... We have clues, but nothing definite:

It appears to happen to 2023's (both jobs), but it might have happened to a 2024 also.

Some have reported that it happens the morning after an OTA is installed (but not everyone has said an OTA installed the night before. That doesn't mean one wasn't installed...)

It’s always fun to play detective/debugger for these sorts of issues ?
