12 volt status

Sorry for a stupid question, but when I log in to ford.com, I have no luck finding my 12 volt status. All I see is HVB charge level. I'm sure I'm just not looking in the right place, but I've tried to go over the entire page.

That is your 12 V. My HVB is currently at 58% the dashboard is showing 80%. That is my 12V

It may well be, but this is what I see on the main page. Th battery gives no charge level, but does look "full". The number of miles remaining is correct, and clearly the HVB is far from "full." Should I be seeing a %age?

Once logged in, go to My Account, under the user menu at the top right. And by My Account, I mean it will show your user name. The Charge Status shown under this page, is the 12v battery. If you go to My Dashboard instead of My Account, then the Charge Status is the HVB.

The backend JSON file is pretty clear it’s the 12v not some assumed mix up. The real fix would be the text saying charge level to indicate it’s the 12v.

the problem is that the 12v SOC shown online may or may not be anywhere near accurate depending how long it has been since the value was updated.... the 12v SOC changes significantly over a perdio of just a few hours after you park and turn your MME off.

Every time you wake the car up for any reason... like opening the door, hood, or hatch, or walk within Bluetooth range, the MME takes a while to go back to sleep which consumes quite a bit of energy from the tiny 12v.

This is not an issue if everything is working properly.

when the 12v gets down to 12.1 or thereabouts, it calls for a charge from the HV. If however this is happening 'often', it is an indication that either:
- something is waking up you car a lot
- your 12v battery capacity is diminished from age, and not holding enough energy to make it thru the night, or perhaps a long OTA.


if you really want to know what the voltage is of the 12v without 'waking up' your MME, you have to leave the hood up and measure at the connection points with a voltmeter (if you have access holes), or read the embedded voltmeter if you have installed 'permanent' jumpers like this:

the problem with that is that if you get within BT range, PAAK will wake up your MME, and that will consume a fair bit of energy going back to sleep.

There really is no reason for people to stress about the 12v SOC if things are working properly.

The biggest thing I'd be concerned about is a long OTA draining a 'weak' old battery. I would suggest that the way around that would be to turn off auto-update EXCEPT for nights you plan to leave your MME 'on' in the garage, with time-out 'off' to desulfate the 12v.... if a long OTA comes in, great since your 12v will be at 100% or close to it.

thanks, but not what I see at all on the Ford Australia website.
Yes, My Account shows my name, then under that a button ‘view vehicle details’, which then takes me back to Vehicle Dashboard with main battery mileage, tyre pressure etc. No 12v level to be found on either page. Curious, mysterious … would seem to be something that should be very obvious & easy to find (my last Ev showed this directly in the car’s HUD).
