Hey folks, brand new owner here. I did some reading and saw that you can run these through a touch less wash. Just getting your feedback on it.

Hand washing all the time is not an option. I’m older and broken lol and just can’t do it. Add to that the fact that I live on a gravel road that makes every vehicle covered in dust by day 2 and it means I have to do something routinely.

Just making sure I’m good with the touch less wash. Thanks for your time and all the best!

No reason you cannot. If you are putting it on a conveyor and getting out, read manual on how to set the transmission.

I’m also curious to hear from MME owners who have used touchless and also have ceramic applications. Michigan road salt spray is the worst in winter. And one can’t leave hose hooked up at home without risk of blowing up faucet or icing the hell out of your driveway.

I use one regularly in the winter ( NW Indiana). Only problem I have experienced is it usually pops open the frunk release port in the front bumper. Many will tell you not to use one because of micro scratches but I haven’t seen any issues and even if I did, micro scratches are better than rust.

I've been using a mix of touch free and soft touch for two years. I got coating when I first got the car but not since. Finish still looks spectacular in the sun.

I do hand dry the piano black parts to avoid spots though.

I have hand washed the MME, but found a touch less with a ceramic coating option. It works great, and a lot less work. The facility is well maintained, and usually an attendant there. The facility has pump sprayers for your wheels, also it has an undercarriage rinse. Been using this method for 3 years (4/21 purchase) with great results. Some early adopters said brush style car washes torn off side emblems. Good luck with your washing

I use the bay-style stationary touchless ones and not experienced any issues. sometimes the flap on the rear wiper pops up during wash or dry. I either close it as I leave or when I arrive at my destination. Some seem to do a better job cleaning up under the rear spoiler than others but otherwise I’m satisfied and saves me from doing it myself.

I use a touchless car wash, I take microfiber cloths along and wipe down the car with them after the wash, to get anything that was missed. This is some work, but far less then washing it at home, less time, and the only cleanup is washing my microfiber cloths later. I have enough to do several washes before cleaning a batch of the cloths. The ceramic coating makes it easier, it wipes off clean with little effort. After more than 2 years, my car comes out looking great.

Personal thoughts is just do the basic wash. No extra waxing etc. I have a mobile detailer who does a seasonal wax etc. Especially winter. I found mine off Groupon. Do your research ❤

Same here. If the wheels are really grimy, I pull into one of the bays with the sprayer wand and clean the wheels and under the rear window visor first. The basic wash is just fine. Also, Dollar Tree sells a good drying and polishing cloth. When it gets dirty, it gets used on dirty things and then pitched out.

I had ceramic applied a month or so ago after having the car 2 months. just went through a “brushless” wash, no touchless locally.
a few swirls on the door pillars in sunlight when you look close, but the car looks great.
I have a tree that drops tiny spots of sap, like a mist on my car. came right off ceramic. My other car, without ceramic, needed supplemental cleaning to get all the sap mist off.
I prefer a few swirls to hand washing every week or two.

If you're talking about "micro scratches" you're not talking about touchless. There is zero chance of any micro scratches on any actual touchless washes - unless it's someone poorly/aggressively drying. If it has brushes or anything spinning, it's not touchless.

I have a ceramic coating and regularly go through a laser wash about every other week or so. And give it a quick hand dry after (mostly to dry the door jams and glass). Finish still looks near perfect. No swirls. And the frunk access cover and charging door have never popped open during a wash.

The only thing that's really annoying me is that none of the good laser washes that I typically use have any decent monthly rates or regular discounts.
