So I'm on a trip up around Boston and my car suddenly decided to start rapid fire updates. Seriously there's been an update every night since we left Thursday. The issue is, I'm parking at a hotel and all 3 mornings I've found the car unlocked. Anyone else noticing this? Been lucky so far, nothings been stolen but this shouldn't be happening.

Also, the cars been sitting in my garage on Wi-Fi every night for two months and that whole time there were two updates. Why did it wait for a road trip to start this barrage?

it's just the way the OTAs came out, I had five over the course of two days. The car being unlocked is a first, some people have actually not been able to get into their cars after certain updates and ended being towed to a dealer. Just to be on the safe side check your security settings for doors in the settings menu on sync 4. Double check that walk away locking is working etc.

Another update is queued for tonight. I'll make sure it locks when I walk away but I've definitely been getting the notification.

I would turn off automatic updates when I was going out of town just to make sure it did not happen when out of town but that is just me.
not just you....lol

I've left my automatic updates on, but I've set up schedule to be done at 1am when I know the car will be in the garage, much easier to deal with a bricked car in the garage, than sitting at mcdonalds.

I agree I also have it on a schedule time when the car will be home, but if I go on a trip out of town I don't want it to do an update until I am back home so I will turn off automatic update while on a trip just in case the update does not go well. I don't want to get stranded out of town due to an update issue. Especially if there is no Ford dealer where I will be.

It won't do updates when you're out of town because you're not driving it. The car won't download updates unless it's being driven. So you have nothing to worry about unless you have an update already scheduled (it will tell you on the screen when you shut it off if there's an update scheduled).

How are you determining that the car is unlocked? Hopefully not by the mirrors, because OTAs can unfold the mirrors even though the doors stay locked.

You have to drive the car to download updates. If it was just sitting in your garage without being driven, updates won't download. WiFi doesn't matter. Also, if you live in an area with bad AT&T cellular coverage, that could also be a factor preventing updates from downloading. Ford has also unclogged the updates for 2023 in the past couple days, so there's a lot of catching up happening for the 2023s.

I am not talking about when I leave it behind. I am talking about when I take the car on a trip out of town. In that case you would be driving it and it would do an update at the schedule time if downloaded. I just figured to be safe it would be a good idea to turn auto update off until I am back home. That way I don't have to worry about accidentally starting or scheduling an update while on the trip.

Yes, on a trip you might want to disable it then.

In that situation I'd probably manually start the update after parking for the night at my hotel, then come back in 15-30 minutes to check on its completion.

Mirros were part of it, but my daughter got to the car about a minute before me and I found her sitting in it. I asked her how she got in and she said it was unlocked. Now, yesterday morning, the mirrors were unfolded and I think I just assumed it was unlocked again but it's possible it was not. This morning (I received the update that changes which doors you can open based on where you're standing), I confirmed it was still locked (and the mirrors were still folded as well). So I'm not really sure if there was an ac tual issue at this point or not.
