Other than “not put it in unbridled extend” there isn’t much more they have to do.

The car will run a 1/4 mile just as fast in whisper.

Turning off traction control and the a/c might help slightly, but likely is negligible.
I know, I’m referring to the performance upgrade package, which is a requirement now for any tests and comparisons, as it’s not only a new, software-based way to get the fastest Mustang, it’s the ONLY way to get the fastest Mustang. Before you had to outright be buying a distinct, most expensive trim to get the fastest ‘Stang available. Which imho was a much easier, more sure way for most people to understand and grasp in terms of coming home with nothing but the best. I can understand software upgrades, most other people can’t. All they know are the annoying Windows updates that constantly nag them, and the once a year iPhone software they get automatically not by upgrading what they already have, but by buying the latest iPhone that already has it.

if this guy doesn’t even know the most basic thing about the Mustang Mach E (flipping the CORRECT switch - literally ONE switch to put it in its fastest mode), I don’t have high hopes of them figuring out and making sure that the GT they have arrived at the scene already equipped with the software-based Performance Upgrade properly installed, activated and ready to go before the test - a software upgrade that is actually REQUIRED to properly experience and test what the car can do at full power.

edit: clarification.

This is the part I’m not sure we are agreeing on.

There is no “fastest mode” when it comes to 0-60 or 1/4 mile. They’re all exactly the same (except unbridle extend).

Basically long as they do nothing……. It should run high 11s in the 1/4 mile.

Instead they mistakingly messed with the settings and unintentionally made it slower by going into unbridle extend.

Doesn't it even say what it does on the damn screen when you select it? Read the manual! lol. #fillingintforrick

I had to go out and check. It doesn’t really say it reduces power.

Ford does need to share some of the blame for this kinda confusion. They speak in riddles.

Every other manufacturer tells us exactly how much horsepower their cars make normally and in “boost mode,” as well as how long that extra power lasts.

3 years later we still have no clue.

My results so far have been pretty good, just tested my '23 vs my '24:

They need to re-do that video for sure.....

More coming soon.

Any chance you did some testing on the 2024 before the performance update? Very curious to see the before/after and if a 2024 base GT is faster than the 2021-2023.

Unfortunately not. I purchased the car new, with the mod already installed from the factory as an option, since it was cheaper this way vs paying after the fact for it.

It is absurd that they haven't (or at least made an update in comments saying "Sorry guys, we messed up.")

They stopped commenting on feedback about their flawed testing too.

I clicked on some of their other videos and am now convinced they purposefully screw up the drag races to make them more controversial to get more clicks.

Example: in this Mustang GT vs Nismo Z race, at 6:03 into the video you hear the transmission shift 3 times (he clearly let off the throttle) and the Mustang gets walked while he’s yelling “come on Mustang” for dramatic effect.

Summary- he’s a freaking YouTube hack that fakes controversy and screws up the tests. Oh…. And from some of his other videos, sucks at driving.

Will admit, when I first got my '23, I ran it in Unbridled Extended on it's 1st dragy pass. Was horribly upset at a 5+ sec 0-60 time. Had a co-worker tell me that mode isn't for straight line racing, and it will limit power.

He was right. Talk about feeling like a dummy.

Went right into the 3's just flipping the extended mode off. I believe it is detailed in the owners manual, but again, who reads that in detail right away.

Agree, it's all about the clicks to some content makers. I disagree with non factual content in these comparison videos personally. Tell it like it is, some people even making purchase decisions based on what they see in these types of videos.

Maybe they will do a retest. I doubt I'll get content on my channel at the strip with this car before they, or some others get the chance, but right now would be optimal time to do so for sure!

All I need to know is the guy is a hack. Not going to give him clicks. ??

So, honestly, like a LOT of YouTube then?

Have to admit, my YT viewing habits are pretty minimal - and this is part of the reason. Why give any of these purposely deceptive, clickbait, bullshit artists any more views? Same reason I don't watch that video that's still flying around about the Cybertruck bumper falling off.

Yeah unfortunately. But it does make me appreciate the honest YouTube channels even more. Any video in ALL CAPS should be my first hint not to click…… yet I get sucked in.

Especially since this was the first 2024 GT drag racing video out there. I had high expectations.

I would go and test one but ford doesn’t seem too keen on a Pontiac-loving canine having a brand-new MME for a week. ??
