Now that Fordpass trip planning is dead is there *any* way to pick a point on the map to add it to a trip

That were in stage 2 feature removal. First Kick to open, now this. We must be coming up on the 5 year mark of the MME.

In Google Maps you can put a pin at the location you want. You can they mark it is a saved spot and name it. You can then use google maps in the car search for starred/saved places and set it as the destination.

I believe it (Ford Nav) to be the only means to condition the battery for charging, so for faster roadtrip charge times I guess we pay :(. Ultimately I believe the post by @James III above says it best :(
Yes but there’s effectively no battery preconditioning in the summer, so that’s not an issue for now.

I don’t want to use Google maps. I do sophisticated trip planning in ABRP but then I want to add each day, or at least each morning and afternoon, into Ford’s Navigation as a trip, so that I’m not relying on my phone during trip execution.

ABRP in the car is ok through CarPlay but after a long stop I need to restart the route, and the turns don’t show up on the IPD. And, I’m relying on my phone again.

The beautiful thing about the old FordPass was you could plan a trip on your phone, but then execute your plan without using your phone.

1) Well this SUCKS,
Trip Planning has now also been pulled from older Ford Pass ver 4 too to use Google Maps too. So compatibility is gone there now too.

2) Going to Navigation in Vehicle: Destination (today)
“Saved Ford Pass Trips” in OEM Nav are all deleted now and so is the ability to (+) add a new trip plan in vehicle. (It was there last week!) ??

I still am able to plan a trip in the car using the “+” button to add a new trip.

I really wish I could do it on my phone and then send it to the Ford built-in navigation, like before.

Although I have my car for a couple years, Ill be road tripping for the first time next week. Whats the preferred way to plan the trip with charging along the way? Would like to include tesla chargers. Dont seem like tesla chargers appear when using the navigation in the car.

Right, they do not appear.

ABRP, then check every location in PlugShare BEFORE and DURING the trip. If you have an adapter, setup your car in ABRP with one.

I agree with this. Use ABRP to plan your trip conceptually. Then, use PlugShare to look at specific chargers, their availability, their comments, and I usually swap in some different chargers that ABRP didn’t choose. I end up putting the trip into PlugShare too (which you can’t do on a phone, you need a bigger screen to prepare a trip in PlugShare)

Then, I like to put key points into the built-in navigation as favourites. These are most important chargers, which might be the fastest ones and the ones near the best restaurants. I also put each night’s accommodation into the built-in navigation as a favourite, or sometimes the charger in the public garage next to the hotel.

Then you can build a “saved trip” in the built-in navigation for each day, consisting of the stops you’ve already entered as favourites. Or, you can just do this when you start driving: since the stops are already in your favourites, it’s easy to do.

I plan my route in ABRP, then set each charging stop as the destination in the Ford nav as I go. It’s pretty much foolproof and ensures preconditioning when necessary (except when the charger is a Tesla). Some people complain about the manual effort to enter each destination, but you have some idle time at the charger anyway. Just enter the next stop while you’re sitting there.

So you've haven't had issues with the Ford Nav sending you on routes that make no sense?

Ford Nav hasn't been too bad, but it always wants me to make the same illegal left turn 3 blocks from my house, and the other day it sent me on a weird right turn loop to avoid a legal left turn. But its mistakes always seem to be in the last few blocks, not in the overall general route. I like having the next turn in the mini-card on the bottom of the screen, and then in the IPD when it's less than a km.

Rarely. I recall one time it tried to take me 50 miles out of my way to get a charge I didn’t need.

I think the route from one charger to the next is so simple that it’s hard to screw up.

If you have Alexa enabled on your car, you can ask it to route you to a destination, which will pass the destination to the Ford navigation system. I've found that Alexa has more POIs than the Ford nav.
