So have a very interesting story, As we were leaving Disney today we saw a security guard behind my car and then a sheriff's deputy pulls up as i'm walking back to my car, I see the guard at my door and when I get to the car I ask him what's going on, He told me that a family stopped him and let him know that the people that just parked next to me that are driving a Tesla mind you got out of the car and a lady from the back seat came out and took something and stabbed my tire and when she saw the family (the witness) watching her, she quickly put it back in the car and they quickly grabbed their stuff and went into the park. Thank God the security guard was smart and collected the family's info for the deputy as he asked me if I wanted to press charges and I said you bet your ass I do. Luckily the Tesla is registered to an address that is local and in the same county and apparently the witness took a picture of the lady so they have a clear image of who it was. So they will be following up with the Tesla owners in the next day or so to pursue charges of vandalism. Ive seen ICE drivers do stuff like this to EVs but I would of NEVER in 100 years thought another EV owner would be malicious towards another EV owner and it wasn't like we were charging, we were legit in a parking spot.
So now on to my question, I used the tire repair kit and inflated the tire enough to get me to a pepboys as everyone else was already closed and the employee at Pep Boys told me that once a tire has any sort of fix a flat in it they can no longer patch a tire and it must be replaced and of course the tire was $250 and they have to order it.
Can anyone confirm if this is true or was he just blowing smoke to make a tire sale?
The hole in on the treads, maybe 1 inches from the side wall and the size is maybe 2MM if that it appears she used something like a nail file etc it was super small.
Just trying to prepare for either a $250 tire or a $25 fix. I'm hoping for the latter since the car has less than 2K miles on it.
