I was curious if anyone has received their adapter and has used the Tesla system. I am supposed to get mine in September according to the new email. sent the other day.

After my tripv Crossfield to Vancouver my road trip experiences gave me huge insight and had I an opportunity to speak to experienced EV drivers.

Has anyone had issues charging at a Tesla charger and do you need to sign up for the membership

Mine did very well in the trip even with my mobility scooter on the back, averaged 19kwh/100 km.

Literally dozens of threads on this.

Hundreds, if not thousands have used Tesla adapters.

FordPass can activate the chargers, Plug and Charge works, and the Tesla membership gets you a discount, but you have to use the Tesla app to get it.

Teslá chargers have been working well. One important thing to know - the charger layout is set up for Teslás, not MME’S. You need to pull in very close to the charger for the plug to reach and you will be taking up two Tesla spaces because of the way they back in. You can mitigate that sometimes by using the charger on the far right, if there is an empty parking spot to the right of the last charger. There are also, sometimes, sideways units on the ends which you can also use that may or may not block two spaces depending.

The original poster is from Alberta Canada. Be prepared to pay big time for your kilowatts at Tesla Chargers. Shows up on the Tesla app at 90 cents a kWh. Big time deal breaker for me.

I bought an electron adapter. I use Tesla exclusively. I love Tesla. Everything stated above is correct. The Tesla app totally sucks because if you hit directions the mapping system does not count down. The best thing to do is save your favorite stations on your navigation. Choose locations that have at least 15 chargers. Tesla charges different rates based on both location and time of day. On the app it has pictures. ALWAYS look for the ones that are sideways. You can pull straight in about 80% of the way and it is easy to charge. ZERO issues. Membership is $12.99 a month and well worth it. Only ones I use are EVGO and Tesla because they have ZERO free charging so at Tesla there is never a line and EVGO you do but like Tesla over 100% and they charge fees. As such people charge and leave.

Yeah, unless Tesla is the only option, it's not worth using for the price. Tesla is more expensive than every other brand. If you get the "membership" it is sometimes cheaper than Electrify Canada, but that's it.

I typically charge at home, but had an opportunity to use my adapter from Ford yesterday while at lunch. Plugged in and charged, no issues. I had to pull up very close to the charger for it to reach. Ford app automatically charged my CC.

You must do a lot of road trips. I very seldom travel farther than 100 miles and do not have a favorite dcfc since they are used so seldom. I use my home charger. I'm still working on my free charging at EA. DCFC charging is much more expensive at Tesla superchargers so I haven't used Tesla yet.

You have to have a membership for it to work. Yes I drive from Bakersfield to LA at least once to three times a week. It is a 200 miles total round trip. I also drive to Seattle and other places as well. The MME is so comfortable that it is a fun car to drive. Honestly with memberships Tesla is not bad at all. It runs about $15 each trip. I charge at home as well.

Earlier this summer I took a 3000 miles road trip where I had 2 A2Z adapters. I charged mostly at Tesla sites. At least on my route they were located about every 150 miles. The only issues I ran into were a charger fault n Spokane, an inconveniently high curb in Missoula, and this guy:

If you have plug and charge activated for the car and have received the TSC update that loads the Tesla Certificate into the car then you are good to go. The only advantage of using the Tesla app is if you sign up for the membership. This gets you some discount on power but if you don’t use it all the time it’s isn’t worth the money. I did use A Better Route Planner and PlugShare for my planning and ABRP for maps.

Once you get the adapter go to a compatible Supercharger and use it. Don’t wait until you are on your trip. Familiarize yourself with the process ahead of time.

I can explain the fault reading. Tesla chargers have a cooling system built in. However the adapters do not. As such for safety reasons the chargers turn off when they get too hot. The best remedy for this is to wrap a hand towel around the adapter. This will keep it cool enough to get to 80% otherwise it takes 30 minutes to cool off. I keep my adapter in the styrofoam case it came in on the bottom portion of the center console. It fires perfectly and stays cool when not in use.

I would just park sideways at the charger, with the moron truck driver being responsible.

There have been several articles, and Tesla recommended not to wrap the adapter.

Well I understand but it works. You only need to do it in high heat and when the charging location is not covered. Supposedly Tesla is making the ford chargers. If and when it shows up I will try it and see if in high heat if there is an issue. For now I will go with wrapping.
