My Ford Mach EV 2023 driver attentiveness module, when using blue cruise, reacts continuously..even if my hands are on the wheel and my eyes are wide open. Occasionally I have gotten the message that it can't see my eyes. I'm short, 5 1". I sit on a cushion. On long trips I use sunglasses that wrap around my glasses. I have eye lense implants. What factors are relevant to my problem? I don't have problems with local driving. But the problem is so severe on long trips that I can't use cruise control .

I've had it in to the dealer twice. They are just Not curious or helpful

The eye tracker is going to nag you regardless of whether you have your hands on the wheel, so the hands are not the issue.

I don’t know what ā€œlens implantsā€ are, but given that the eye sensor tracks your retinas, I’d say that’s probably your culprit.

I’m gonna guess it’s the combination of the eyeglasses and the wrap around sunglasses, since you only use them on the road trips where you have the issue. Maybe try experimenting with the wraps on and off?

Was thinking the same thing.

It can’t see your eyes if you hide your eyes.

Why the double glasses if you have lens implants?

Might have to just get prescription sunglasses if the OP wants to use Bluecruise.

The system needs to see your eyeballs clearly in order to function. It is very likely the combination of "eye lens implants" and wraparound sunglasses are causing issues. Bifocals or heavy progressive lenses will distort your eyeballs as viewed by the camera and cause problems. Certain types of sunglasses will as well. In your situation, I would recommend getting a pair of prescription single vision (no bifocals or progressives) driving glasses. You can get them tinted (prescription sunglasses) if you want, just make sure it's a traditional tint (e.g. brown, gray), not metallic tint.

Your seating position could also be a factor, make sure the steering wheel tilt is adjusted properly so the wheel is pointing at your shoulders. If you have the steering wheel pointed at your chest or stomach, the camera might be aimed too low to see your eyes. Sitting too close is also a problem, there should be at least 10-12" of space between the wheel and your chest. (Wheel pointed too low at stomach or too close will also cause additional injuries if the airbag deploys.)

If the wheel is properly adjusted, when you glance down it should look like this:

Notice the top of camera pod is just slightly below the bottom of the instrument cluster.

Also, you need to be looking straight ahead at the road while using BlueCruise. If you are looking at the mirrors, your speedometer, the touchscreen, your phone, or out the side windows (anywhere but straight ahead at the road) it will flag you.

And FYI the eye monitor is only active when using cruise control with lane centering. Not for regular driving.

I agree with Mach-Lee above. When I had this problem, I found it was because I had adjusted the steering wheel up or down and the camera could not see my eyes.

Mine does pretty well with my glasses and wrap around shades.

But it sucks at night, not sure if it’s the prisms throwing it off or what.

Lense implants are not one size fits all. Glasses needed for road sign reading.

Could you try or have you tried using just 1 set of glasses rather than 2?

If that works it will tell you what the issue is.
