I received my Tesla adapter yesterday (thank you Ford), so today I drove to a Tesla Charger and tried it out. As per instructions, I plugged the Tesla plug into the adapter, and the the adapter into my car. Voila ... it just worked! I had charged at home to 80%, so I set the Ford app to stop at 90%, which it did perfectly. The long distance world has opened up, now that I can use Tesla chargers!

I have had mine since June. Used it once and will only use in dire emergency situations

same here. I just got mine. went to Tesla super charger to try it. worked great. but insanely expensive
It’s not insanely expensive everywhere all the time. They vary the price, a lot, by location, demand and time of day - like Uber and Lyft demand pricing. There’s also the membership plan that cuts the price too and definitely makes sense if you are planning to use Tesla more than 3 times in a month. On my last trip, with a membership, i was seeing cheaper prices at Tesla than at other companies.

I was excited to receive my adapter the other day but that excitement didn't last long when I went into FordPass and found that there are no Tesla chargers anywhere near me that are compatible. Since I go to San Diego ever now and then to visit my kids and need to charge, I looked for Tesla chargers there and same thing - not compatible. So, as far as I'm concerned, I can take that adapter and stuff it in a closet somewhere.

There are compatible Tesla SC’s in San Diego.

Check your FordPass settings. ā€œEnergyā€ at bottom of page 1 >> ā€œPublic Chargingā€ at top of page 2 >> tap on filter symbol at top left of map >> ā€œFast Charging Adapter,ā€ make sure box that says ā€œHide Stations Needing Adapterā€ is NOT checked. Et voila - Tesla chargers needing an adapter show up all over San Diego.

Yes, that is all checked correctly. Looked again and a few Tesla stations but none compatible where I am in San Diego. Big Tesla charging station at Friars Road mall and Mission Center but not compatible. Others that are compatible are far from where I will be in SD. I would have to go out of my way. Fortunately, SD is the only place I go where I would need a charger so will stick with other options and just put my adapter in the car just for emergencies - should there be a Tesla charger around when I desperately need it. Thanks for nothing Elon.

There’s a compatible Tesla station about 2 miles away from Mission Center just east at the Costco on Friars Rd - 16 stalls. Would that work for you?

I guess I'm unclear about what is meant by "incompatible"? I only went to one charging station in Canada (for a test run of the adapter while on a trip to Windsor) and never considered it might not work. I plugged in and it worked! It even charged to my Ford Blue Oval account (since there are no screens on Telsa SC stations and no card readers) which was a nice surprise. my only concern is the cords are insanely short since ALL Tesla charge points are on the left rear corner of the car apparently. So I had to angle in and nearly hit the charger to get close enough to hook up. I had to occupy two spaces to do so, which I KNOW will draw ire from Telsa owners if the bays happen to be full. Not sure if there is any solution for that other than buying an extension Tesla extension cord.....
