What say you @Ford? Should this go to the dealership? Continue to wait for an OTA fix (it's likely been 3 months waiting already)?
Robert is not going to answer, and even if he did, I'm not sure I would listen to his opinion.

This happened to me as a result of getting the HVBJB recall done. A connector that was touched during that work did not reseat correctly . Taking it back to the dealer was the only recourse. Luckily they found it fairly fast and I had my car back about 3 or so hours after drop off. Per dealership: "There is circuit issue on C1797 Pin1 circuit. Perform circuit pin fit repair on circuit VPK01 (BN-YE)". It's been fine since. Can't be 100% sure it's your problem but I've seen a number of posts about the topic that started around the time the HVBJB replacements started.

definitely haven't had a HVBJB recall done, at least not that the dealership has told me about!

Not that this should or will matter but leave your phone in your office and just try it with your FOB only. (Ignore if you have attempted)
Here's some more test data...

manually locked the car, then moved all fobs and phones away from the car. verified they weren't in range by trying to open the car with the door button.

approached with just the phone. no welcome lights, but the doors unlocked at the push of the door button. walked away again to verify that walk-away lock wasn't working. returned to the car without the phone or fob and locked it via the keypad.

returned again without phone or fobs to verify none were in range, then came back with just the fob. again, no welcome lights, and the door unlocked at the push of the button. walked away again, then came back with no fob to verify that walk-away lock still wasn't working, then relocked with the keypad.

therefore, I can confirm that there's no issue with the phone or the fob, or with both being present at the same time.

at no time did walk-away lock activate either.

at no time did welcome lighting work either.

I am having the exact same situation. Tried almost all other suggestions from other posts but none have ever worked. I actually never had this seen working, not even once.

Mine is a Job 1 Premium Extended range.

Over service Info website, i see there are multiple modules need an update but not BCM which could be responsible here.

Is simply buggy .. perhaps some updates will get it right one day, or needs a better CPU (new 2024 model, who knows?)

FWIW not retaining settings happens regularly on my 2023: welcome lighting works until it doesn’t (often); auto-lock & chirp, sometimes loses it; others include: autohold turned off, not being able to change drive modes occasionally (eg from Engage to Whisper).

None of which ever seems to effect the wonderful driving experience, is just annoying. Perhaps back to the dealership for a check up re. any firmware and/or software updates?

Oh, nor have I ever received ANY OTA updates despite the connectivity being very good here.

UPDATE! It's working again, and I know why...

Last night I found my wife's lost key in the car... after thinking my key fell out of my pocket, I grabbed it and walked into the house. About the time I realized I had two keys in my pocket, I got the push notification on my phone that PAAK had completed walk-away lock.

Phew, now it works... but this begs another question...

During testing, my logic proved there wasn't another key in the car after removing my phone and my key, returning to the locked car, verifying that it didn't unlock on it's own, and only unlocked after using the keypad code. Upon entering the car, I tried to start it, also verifying that there wasn't another key lost in the car.

Here's the question... if the key that was lost in the car wouldn't enable unlocking or starting, why did it disable walk-away lock? If it doesn't do the first two, why would it do the last?

Everything you describe is what I would expect with the exception of not being able to start the car. But I’ve never tried to start with the key anywhere other than the front seat in my pocket. Where exactly was the “lost” key sitting?

It was found in the driver's seat. When I saw it, I assumed it had just fallen out of my front right pocket when I sat down in driver's seat, only to find when i got home that I now had 2 keys in my front right pocket.

The car should have started with it in the driver’s seat unless the battery in the fob is (nearly) dead. Will it start the car now?

Going to test that when I get home from work... Not sure which result will be more confusing.. if it starts the car, you'd think it should have given a chirp or warning when trying to lock the car indicating there's a key still inside... and if it doesn't start the car, why would it have prevented walk-away lock from working...

BL: more to follow once I can test if the lost key still has enough battery to start the car.

How long was the key missing?

Usually, this behavior means you nevber got far enough away from the car to go out of Bluetooth range. Or at least with my car. When I park in the garage, my office is only about 20 feet from the car, and the BT stays connected = no auto lock, no pony lights.

after unknowingly removing the lost key from the car, walk-away lock worked less than 20 feet as the crow flies from the car. Every day I park at least 3/4 of a mile from the office.
