Which “bug” are you trying to correct for that is so serious that it requires disabling safety systems?
You’re probably in a minority Jim. Perhaps not in this forum, but among all owners and drivers. Most folks don’t use any of the lane keeping or lane centering features that their cars might have. Most folks don’t use any form of cruise control let alone a hands free version. (BCHF, SuperCruise, FSD, et al). They just don’t like these features that much.

For them, that handy little car icon isn’t doing squat, and it’s just as handy over on the right side of the ipc.

If people aren’t going to use that stuff anyway there’s nothing to be lost by using this procedure in Forscan. Want further examples? Go haunt the various Facebook mme groups and see how often the centered speed comes up. Spoiler alert: a lot. The fact that they noticed a changed means all the ADAS features were already off.

I can only imagine a social media version of this forum.
I bet the gnashing of teeth is something to witness.

Admittedly I'm an automotive forum junkie. That's as much first world seriousness I can handle. ?

You should have probably bought a car without thousands of dollars of sensors and millions of dollars of effort put into the adas, seems like a waste of money, maybe a golf cart next time?

Seatbelts are uncomfortable right why wear them? Or airbags, ABS is for suckers right? (sarcasm)

You have driver aids turned on. Turn them off and you’ll see it in the center with the nice UI.

Way to make presumptions. Or do you just fail at critical reading on everything? I said a lot of people like to like to just drive. Is that really so hard to understand? And what part of this passage you quoted did I say I like having all the ADAS features off? Or did you simply assume? As for seatbelts, I don't presume to tell others whether or not to wear them.

In hindsight you always did seem better adjusted but there is a real lack of common sense on this forum so sorry for lumping you in I guess unless you think it's cool to turn off adas or abs or seatbelts or airbags...no presumptions.

Has anyone tried BlueCruise after making this change? I have the hardware in my cart, I’m just waiting to hit buy.

What’s “Facebook”? ?
You’re right, I likely am in a minority and, I can see how it would be nice if the indicator were turned off, instead of just grayed out, when none of those systems are enabled. In fact, you may remember back when our cars first came out, people were asking “what does the icon that looks like a spider/bug mean?”

The really cool UI is only available in Unbridled mode ?

There are nice elements for Engage and Whisper too. The battery bar in Engage is a core piece of the Mach-E’s design language. It’s what you see when the car turns on every time.

You’re right. I’ve just always liked the growing orange diamond. I rarely saw it though because (surprise) I always have lane keeping turned on ?

There is something else in all this that is rarely discussed as it may not be all that common. On some roads that appear to meet requirements for lane centering and lane keep assist, the system doesn't register the lane lines. Some of that might be due to the position of the sun relative to the horizon, but certainly not most of it around here. Most of our roads do not support BCHO or even adaptive cruise control with no lane centering.
About 50% of the roads don’t register and neither BC nor adaptive cruise control with lane centering are available, and occasionally no adaptive cruise control at all. It’s more than just the sun low on the horizon too. Road markings aren’t nonstandard, there’s nothing (such as rumble strips) to correlate to this to either. An hour drive to Kona usually results in about 25 to 35 minutes of limited ADAS.

Talking to the other Mme owners on island I’ve discovered a few things: they’ve noticed but have no answer, they’ve noticed and don’t care or the largest of the groupings, “I don’t use that stuff.” That last group also includes at least two people who tested lane keeping with scary results (over into the wrong side of the road before a warning happened, or onto our shoulders and near the lava field without warning). Then there’s the “What is that?” crowd.

There are a couple of potential solutions. One might be to just flip-flop the speed readout and automation status. I’d like that. The second is to just return to the pre 6.8 (??) update status as seems to be the case with the 24s. Everything off and you get the old style.

The old animations aren’t all that important to me but I have to admit they were nice.

On the other hand, I’ll be driving home from Kona after working the Ironman World Championship on October 26. I’ll hit the highway home at around 2 am on the 27th after having been up since 4 am the previous day working all day in 90 F+ temperatures driving up and down the main highway (on the wrong side I might add). All in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma with no adas and no cruise control. And an iv of Red Bull.
