This isn't directly Mustang related, but does anyone have a good website to reference maintenance required for EVs for ICE vehicles (oil changes, etc.)? I thought it be nice to see some type of comparison. I thought it me be helpful for those considering the move to a Mustang Mach-E (or any other EV). Plus, I kind of just want to know for myself!

I went looking for some thing similar quite a few months ago. I didn't find anything comprehensive so I started one for myself. As I was putting together my list it kind of turned into items that contribute to total cost of ownership. It's not much and still a work in progress (I haven't done anything with it since I created it) but maybe it can be a starter for you. Forum doesn't allow .docx file attachments so I converted it to a pdf.

Some additional caveats. Some EVs have transmission fluid and some don't. Also, I've never owned an EV and I have not had my list reviewed by an EV owner yet, so it's definitely an off the cuff list, and as such I'm open to any feedback from anyone.

It really seems to be the same with exception of ICE and in most cases transmission. Tires, wiper blades, cabin filter and such.

There are coolant loops with reservoirs on the EVs instead of radiators. The air conditioner type heat pump for the cooling loops is a critical sub system and must be kept operating to specification and may need maintenance but probably infrequent.

The Chevy Bolt owner's manual says to change the fluid that cools the battery every 150,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. That's it. Of course there's the normal tire rotation, wiper blade stuff, but only one "real" maintenance item.

How long have you had your Bolt?

My C-Max Energi has a 150,000 mile transmission drip dry and replace routine just as my 2005 Escape Hybrid had. So, the transmission fluid change on the Mach-E may also be extended well beyond 100,000 miles.

I really hope the Mustang Mach-E has a similar maintenance interval as the Chevy Bolt EV. Zero dealer maintenance except at the 5yr/150k mark is really appealing. I think Tesla has a recommended brake fluid check every two years and A/C service at 6 years, otherwise it's on-demand.

Isn't there a need to change out the HVB coolant fluid every three or is it five years?

Actually in the Bolt owner's manual they want you to get the tires rotated every 7500 miles. Not sure if this is absolutely necessary or just a bone thrown to the dealership to get them some maintenance work.

Tire rotation and brake fluid flush are both recommended and necessary. I agree with 7500 mile rotation. I just took my Leaf in for 30,000 mile brake fluid flush.

Tires tires tires. Holy crap. I’m on EV #2 over the last 6 years and they both (i3 and BoltEV) burned through tires. 12000 miles seems to be all I’ve ever get out of a set of tires.
