The range on the dash keeps going down i have a 23 premium with LFP batteries with a little over 6000 miles on it when I would charge to 90% i would get like 235 indicated on the dash then a few days ago it said 219 this morning aftrr charging it again to 90% its saying 196. I have read on this forum not to rely on that number but it's strange that it keeps going down. I was thinking if I reset the trip history would it go back up? The other question every once in a while i get into the car and the drive mode has changed to engage in change. What is causing it to change on its own? Any ideas on both problems?

1st welcome to winter months. Range goes down as it gets colder out. But being in Florida might rule that out.
You can try resetting the driving history to see what it does.

Just want to point out to OP that resetting the "trip history" will do nothing but reset the trip numbers. You need to make sure to reset the actual driving history like Ali mentions. This will then start to relearn your driving to recalibrate the range estimates. BUT... if the range estimate is going down, it's based on factors like your driving and the weather (less likely in FL), so even if you reset that, it's probably going just end up around the same estimate eventually.

I have been using the ac more and at a higher fan speed, can that really be the cause of the range going down?

It's a range estimate it's based upon your recent driving. The biggest impacts on your range are drag via speed and temperature, hot which the AC uses a couple hundred watts which is much less than cold which both inherently makes the chemistry in the battery less efficient but also has you use the heater that consumes up to 5-7 kw.

Module failure would be a mil, and long term degradation can be from excessive heat or prolonged storage at extreme voltages.

It's lovingly called the guess o meter, welcome to EV ownership.

What i don't understand i have been driving the same route since i bought the car also where I live in central florida we have little hills buts it's been the same since I bought it. Why now? The weather now is a little cooler, really not as hot as July and August. It's strange is all.

I just reset the EV driving history. Tonight I'm going to charge the car to 100%. I usually just do it the first of the month.

The key thing to keep telling yourself is, as others already noted, it's just an estimate. It has no actual impact on how far you can drive. If you got on a 55 MPH road and just drove, you would likely go over the amount on the screen.

Just like any ICE vehicle you owned before that had DTE calculations, it is estimating based on recent behavior. The MME goes a little further than most traditional DTE estimates as it also tries to account for temperature changes. It assumes that you might turn on the heater, or that the battery pack may need to be heated which consumes power. But it doesn't actually know that will happen on your drive because for it to know that would mean the vehicle has both sentience and omniscience. Which would be a whole other concern beyond your range numbers.

It's just an estimate, put it out of your mind and enjoy the vehicle.

The GOM is really not sophisticated. On a trip I had Ford Navigation and ABRP tell me I could get to a location, but there were hills between me and the location. The GOM would regularly tell me that the location was out of range, while the Navigation would tell me it was in range. Not a good combo for my nerves when chargers are scarce.

If you continue to have concerns you could buy an OBDII reader and get the high voltage battery state of health (HVB SOH) from the car. I know I always appreciate more data.

More annoying when the GOM and the navigation starts to tell you can’t make it and you still arrive fine.

You are right but the word "annoying" does not capture the feeling I have when I may be stranded with a dead car. "Dread" might be more accurate for me.

I have not had the drive mode change except after an update or the 'drive mode not available' bug that so many had for a bit. Haven't had any experiences with drive mode issues since.

have had drive mode, 1P, etc. changed many times. Most often associated with an OTA.
Used to get notification of OTAs and an icon on view screen but all that disappeared many OTAs ago. So, when something is not working I know to go back in and reset. And I periodically check out of habit now.
Trust your personal experience with your MME and do not push the limits. Most of the info. you get from Ford "software" should be taken with a grain of salt (including FordPass which deteriorates over time - pretty close to worthless now - cannot even refresh in hopes of tricking it in to working).

I really wish we had a screen with more telemetry. Like power draw, battery temp and the like. Rode in my buddy's Rivian and that was one of the coolest nerdy screens he showed me other than the "camping mode" screen.

resetting the driving history may make the number on the dash change, but all you’ve done is tell the car to forget what it’s learned about the way you drive, along with the conditions you drive in, and display an even less reliable number.
Even living in Florida, a day below 80° will lower the guessed at range. If it hits 65 at night, range will read lower in the morning. Drive 5 MPH faster one day, the range will guess less the next day.

As far as drive mode changes, check to see which profile the car is in when this happens. My wife’s profile has some different settings and despite carrying MY key fob and MY PAAK, sometimes the car still picks her profile leaving me in unexpected drive mode.
