My knowledge of charging and chargers is woefully lacking. I stopped in Parkersburg WV to charge my 2023 MME at a Sheetz with Tesla chargers. First try with the Tesla infrastructure. I have the Lectron Vortex adapter. I was not able to charge my car at any of the stations. Was it operator error or are these chargers not compatible with the MME? (Obviously not my car in the photo).

You can look in the Tesla app to see which Superchargers are compatible with non-Teslas.
I did and it did say non-compatible. But I wasn't sure if that referred to the adapter or not. I was at Sheetz to eat anyway so I thought I'd give it a try. Now you know what I meant by "woefully lacking." Now, not so much. :like:
Thanks

It's unfortunate, every Tesla SC in the areas I frequent are V2. I'm not optimistic they will be upgraded any time soon.

For the sanity of others in my family that drive my cars, - I hope Tesla updates their chargers to v4 quickly... so that they just work without thinking. My wife is not at all interested in understanding the nuance of V2 V4 etc... it just needs to work.

I live in Michigan and travel to the upper part of mid-Michigan a lot. (Greyling, Gaylord and Traverse City) Every Tesla charger is V2. Anywhere else in the state is V3 including the UP. Come on Tesla update yourself so you can take my money.

The Fordpass app will show you which chargers you can use, I think the navigation will show them too. You need to select the correct filter settings. Many around me area off limits because they are too busy.

I doubt Tesla upgrades many V2. According to a Tesla insider, it’s basically the same price to build a new location (assuming permits etc.).

I might be wrong. The whole opening of Superchargers is part of Lord Elon’s gracious goodwill, right? And nothing to do with receiving NEVI funds for V4 chargers.

Do not forget another very important factor. Greater profits from your investment by having more potential customers by allowing non-Teslas use your Superchargers.

It isn't going to happen. They will add new v3s and v4 stations and upgrade very few v2s . It might be convenient for you to see a tesla and charge, but there's no way it makes business sense until potentially there are so many v3plus cars on the road that the v2 stations are underutilized.

Just about every app, plugshare, tesla google maps knows the difference between 'non tesla' and 'tesla only'.

Most people use apps to find stations anyway. That's how you check if it is working, is it is busy, and the price. Many are tucked away where you can't see em

What i like about new stations is they are often not busy. There is a big v2 near my house but their expansion v3 across the street, still a 12 stall, is a ghost town. Good enough for me.

My opinion and crystal ball only...

Lol.

If Tesla made any profit from the Supercharging business, you'd see it reported in the 10-K and hear Lord Elon bragging about it. Their are margins on the kWh charges but the capital costs are immense compared to the miniscule revenues.

It's like $1.50 hotdogs at Costco. There might be some margin on them but that's not why Costco has them.

You can look in a number of other apps, life plugshare, abrp, google maps, i think chargepoint but don't quote me, and they will list sites as Tesla only.

There are reports of some v3 that have been held back or not converted, which is why it's best to check an app.

As you are all aware, there are other DC fast charging stations around not just Tesla. Use EA all/most of the time.
Just seem to me everyone has the opinion that its Tesla charging or none. JMHO
