It is possible to get the information from the OBD2 connector. I use Torque Pro and can see what the charger is advertising and what the car is requesting.
I have never seen one of the "charge curve videos" or "slow charging videos" show this information. Would love to see it!

I just finished another 1500 mile road trip and the amount of people who I met that actually understood the how to charge their EV was only 1 person and I met probably 20 different people. Everyone else needs to watch this video or simply not buy one, at least for road trips.

I was at an EA station near Bakersfield off the I-5 last Saturday. Of course only 2 of the chargers were working and I was in a queue to charge. I charge up and go to the next charger at a shell gas station. Again 2 of the chargers were broken and I was in a queue. There was this dude in a Chevy bolt at the charger for over two hours charging to 100%. I go and talk to the guy. and the guy starts complaining that he is not getting the 150kw that the charger says. I end up teaching this guy that the car he has maxes out at 55kw. and that charging past 80% will be very slow and it would be better to leave and go to the next charger. This uneducated and arrogant guy didn't believe me and spent another 40 minutes charging up to 99% while there was a queue of 4 people. Nothing I could do. He was there first. He was just an uneducated EV driver who probably shouldn't have bought an EV for roadtrips... especially a Bolt... Rant complete.

Like the dummies who put premium in their Sonatas, people still don’t understand how gasoline works, there will always be the willfully ignorant

With a little research, one can learn that you may not want to road trip a Chevy Bolt due to the very low charging rate. I just don't understand how buyers don't do the research to figure out some of this critical stuff when it comes to evs. It's crazy that the Bolt guy didn't even want to take a minute to process what you had just told him. And if he didn't believe you he could have easily looked it up on his phone.

As for mysteriously slow charging, there is blame to go around.

Ford (or anyone) could simply display in the vehicle:
- Rate requested N Kw
- Rate received M Kw

But....maybe the manufacturers want it to be ambiguous...what if the Mach E never requests its advertised charging rate? That would be bad...if you knew it....
It can be displayed on some of the EA chargers... I was at an EA station that had some techs working on the stations... they had this screen turned on while I was there, and it was really cool... till they set the charger back to normal info-free mode.

Did you get the impression this was a diagnostic/debug mode not intended to be exposed to the end user?

I did... it was in an demo or diagnostic mode which it appears to be able to be left in. The info is useful and I'm sure it could be set to show demand and delivered kW if they wanted to.

He kept getting mad at the charger for not giving him 150kw. He was in his own little arrogant world.

Love this video, informative and humorous. I do have two questions, who is Kyle Connor and why was he mentioned in the video? I assume it is an inside joke, so I want to know.
