What is warranty on *replacement* mobile charger?

Makes sense. To an extent. But that gets kinda ridiculous at the extremes. Like if you got a warranty replacement with a week to go and the thing crapped out two weeks later.

I’m not suggesting that’s my situation, but this does seem like something that’s unclear enough that it oughta be in writing somewhere.
I see what you’re saying. But basically the seller guarantees you 3 years, no more. On the other hand, I think some companies would make a goodwill exception in cases like that and replace it again.

I use my mobile charger exclusively for home 240v charging.

My first charger began slow death death (amber/blue, reduced rate) at about 28 months / 35,000 miles. My dealership replaced it under warranty no problem.

Now my replacement is doing the same thing after another 15 months / 20,000 miles.

Is the replacement under its own 3yr/36k warranty? Or just the warranty of the original charger?

If the answer is the latter, my car is under extended warranty - would that apply?
It's covered by the 3yr/36k new vehicle warranty. Since you're past that and your 3yr/36k warranty has expired, replacement is no longer covered. It works the same as any other part on your car.

The Ford Mobile Charger is junk. Listen to the other comments here imploring you to buy a better charger. I suggest ChargePoint, Emporia, Wallbox, Autel, or Tesla as good EVSEs.

That's a very good question, it might be.

EDIT: I looked it up and it's not covered by PremiumCARE ESP.
Would you mind showing me what you looked up?

I just pulled out my PremiumCARE ESP contract and it says that “all Failures are covered” unless specifically excluded. The section on exclusions doesn’t say anything about the mobile charger.

Now, a “Failure” is defined as “a cessation of normal mechanical or electrical functioning of the Vehicle components covered by this Agreement that arise from defects in materials or workmanship or caused by normal wear and tear covered by this Agreement.”

So I guess the question is whether the mobile charger is a “component” (not a defined term) of the Vehicle. I would argue that it is, considering that it came bundled with the vehicle and is needed to charge it. In fact, this website says “The Ford Mobile Charger is a crucial component of Ford’s commitment to a connected, efficient, and environmentally conscious driving experience.”

If you’ve got info to the contrary, let me know what you found. Thanks.

Ours took less than 4 months after delivery to break. Came out of the house Sunday morning and the car was only charged to 68%. Did some troubleshooting later in the day and the Ford charger will not charge at all when plugged into NEMA 14-50. Still works on 5-15/120v though. Going to call the dealer tomorrow.

Edit: I just chatted with Ford Customer Chat and they told me it was the dealership responsibility. They told me to speak with a service manager.

Several have gotten replacements from their dealer. Ford doesn’t do any direct warranty.

I get the impression that portabe chargers overheat. My Ford charger was giving random yellow lights and my Dewalt charger actually melted.

The mobile charger is covered under your car warranty. In my case, my extended warranty. My service center has one on order. I’m just eking by at slower speed for now.
