when mine ships I'm going to drop my salesperson a text and say "hey so it's on it's way don't do anything I MEAN IT"
I kind of already did that: Since my ETA is just a week away I've already e-mailed my salesperson to get the paperwork ball rolling--at least get as much done as they will let me do.

Of course since the ETA is a week it could also be two weeks; but since nobody on here has got their car it could be infinite weeks (matches the color).

Note that my car still says "awaiting shipment" so there is that too :(

I made sure to specifically tell them that. They told me that wouldn’t have happened anyways, but I didn’t want to risk it.
I sent an email with a list of items for preparation. Suggest doing.
  • No dealer sticker -License plate frame – meh, but OK
  • X-Plan pricing (sent you the qualifier)
  • Ensure full charge (100%) at delivery
  • I’ll not be trading in vehicle or transferring plates
  • Want info on lease but, will probably purchase with own financing; unless Ford is offering incentives.
  • I want the floor mats and rear deck mat forgotten on Drop order. They are coming with Premium order $240. I can wait if necessary. But want as part of sale.
  • Of course, no demo use; but that’s a given.
  • I may think of others. ?.
Getting ready!

Don't forget the $100 self-driving bonus paperwork. I've attached it for your reference. Also wether or not you want them to wash/detail/etc once it arrives. I said no, I don't want swirl marks.

Thank, I've added to the list.

I must say, this speaks volumes to the inefficiency of the US shipping system.

It seems like it would be far more efficient to load all the cars for a destination onto autoracks, group them together on trains, detach and re-attach in Kansas City to a new train to the destination.

Instead, they send them by train to KC, unload them, truck them to the next train terminal, and reload them on new autoracks to attach to a new train.
I doubt that's the way it normally works. Again, COVID has screwed everything up and thrown the normal timing and flow all out of whack. They're just scrambling to grab whatever they can to get them into the US first(KC), then work out how to get them the rest of the way from there.

Apparently my Mach-E is in that batch in Kansas City from the other thread. I see that it was picked up by the trucking company at about 10:30 this morning from KC (probably taken to another train but no further updates yet).
It's been taken to an undisclosed location for safety.

I was just trying to find some logic besides manpower shortages (which there is an extreme overabundance of) for the shipments to be dead in the water at that point.

I recall originally (last March?) the sales sides were not essential while parts and service were. That was the case out here as well. No longer the case here either.

Well. manpower and equipment issues most likely I'd guess then.
I suspect part of it is that it's a brand new model that needs a "new" chain of transport arranged. There's still so many other existing models in the total vehicle transport chain that probably have existing contracts and arrangements that are still (mostly) flowing. So when there's a squeeze on manpower and resources like there is now, there's very little leftover capacity to try to get ahold of to start up a new route.

It's a bit like the airlines trying to add new routes in/out of airports that are already at capacity.

I hope you're right. However, I think it probably reflects the inherent inefficiency of the US rail system with many non-overlapping, privately-owned rail lines that prevent efficient transfer of goods.

It looks like cars going to CA took a first train to KC, MO and were driven to the speedway near KC KS. Maybe from there they will go to another train that goes to CA?

Mine was unloaded in KC, MO yesterday. To come to the east coast, they are likely to be on a CSX train. The CSX system map shows nothing west of St. Louis, not even partnership lines. My guess is our eastbound cars will sit in KC until they are trucked to St. Louis and loaded on eastbound trains, in my case to DE. However, it is possible that there will be another train involved going east from KC and maybe even another transfer to CSX. After that they will be trucked to their destination dealerships. My palsapp entry only shows a pending New Castle, DE entry with nothing about KC.

KC arrival yesterday

Yeah, I doubt shipping all MMEs to KC first just to get them out of Mexico and into the US was the original plan.

just do it the amazon way of putting the car where ever it fits on the shelf and we can get them in two days

He's simply providing a reality check.
My dealers FCTP car has been built since 11/18. It's watching customer cars get loaded on trains while it just sits. Majority of FCTP are sitting right along side it. Ford is putting the customer orders as priority.

From what I was told by a dealer they are expecting their Mach E's to come in by end of month or beginning of next month.

This is in San Diego California.

Guess they rail cars to Kansas then truck to their destinations.
