Apparently Ford business suits made the calculation and the revenue from 21 owners would not be enough to move that needle? That's just my guess of course.
But,
There are a couple of Forscan edits to make AFTER you do the FDRS work.
Very simple, and easy enough to get by just asking

In FDRS, it's far less confusing. Each update is simply labeled as belonging to a specific module.
You want the IPMA update, you click IPMA and then click download/run. Then follow the prompts on the screen. It's not neurosurgery and the FDRS thread is a rich history of many hundreds of updates by folks that have gone before you.

It would be rather odd for any VIN in the USA to NOT have the necessary updates available. But if anyone wonders, they simply ask here on the forum and a couple of amazingly generous gentlemen on this forum will look and verify before you spend a nickel.

It's not a technical issue. My job 1 car has BC 1.4.
How did this happen? Especially if you claim not technical.

An Early Access update went out to a few 21s last December with something called (at the time) BlueCruise 1.4.

I agree that the cars are not abandoned. But I also think most would agree that we would like to see the the OTA process go much faster.

It's my guess that most MME owners would have no prayer of getting through the FDRS process which leaves them the OTA route as the only solution.
I completely agree with your first point and will take it a bit further: The OTA process sucks. Based on the opinions of people WAY smarter than I am about this stuff, it is baffling to us as to why it has taken Ford so long to get the updated BC to all vehicles regardless of the year or platform at this point.

I respectfully disagree with the second point, and I am going to see my way out of this convo now since my opinion on the matter does not seem to be very popular with the masses. I'll just stay out of these threads going forward. If anyone wants help getting their car updated, I'd be happy to do so via the FDRS thread or on a one-on-one level.

having done this update personally, there are a bunch of interventions needed in the process... there is however a big block of time for one module which is ~2.5 hours.
What are you doing for that 2.5 hours? Are you continually interacting with the vehicle and/or the diagnostic system? It sounds like poor design, if so.

I believe some people also reported getting BlueCruise 1.3. At least I saw that someplace.

You COULD just stare at the screen and watch the progress bar move along, but you don't have to. You can do whatever you want. Multitasking.

It's not an FDRS design issue, but rather the limits of the speed at which gigabytes of data can travel a very slow buss. (network)

I got BC 1.4 last December as a part of the EA program. I said it's not a technical issue for Job 1 cars to be able to upgrade.

Whiskey. I did the new IPMA update this Wednesday night. I left the laptop on my trucks center console with the screen facing my windshield so I can look down from my living room on the second floor and see the progress. Once I saw the box pop up that asks you to turn the ignition off and back on, I went downstairs and wrapped it up.

Others have set up a remote access from their desktop to the laptop so they can check the progress that way while they're relaxing in their house. There's no need to baby-sit the process minute by minute.

It behaves the same as they currently describe 1.4.

Watching to make sure it doesn't fail. It is completing lots of small steps along the way. If it fails, you need to take action.

I think the IPMA software builds between the various releases are different, though. So while the behavior might be similar, the actual performance might vary. There’s a thread I remember reading where people were comparing.

Edit, this is the one: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ipma-versions-for-bluecruise.37319/
Granted, this thread was before the official announcement of BC 1.4 (and 1.5!), which only further muddied the waters.

Regardless, the 21 job 1 hardware seems capable of “1.4-level capabilities”, the sticking points seem to be OTA distribution and basic communication. But without further communication we really don’t know anything for sure.

You have a FORD ADVISOR??? You must be “special” ? what did you do to rate one?
You… sign up for the free service? It’s part of Fords new initiative they rolled out a few weeks ago. You go to a website and enroll and they send you a text message that gives you direct 24/7 access to a ford ev advisor. Is this not known on here?

I reached out to the Ford EV team about this as it didn't quite seem right that the 2021s were no longer covered. I think it is just a miscommunication. There was a press release a week or three ago about a staged rollout and more information to come. See their response below.

We apologize for any confusion. As shared in our post, if you are a 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owner and you have a BlueCruise-equipped vehicle, you are eligible for the BlueCruise 1.3 update.
The final update to enable BlueCruise 1.3 is currently rolling out to model year 2022 and 2023 Mustang Mach-E customers. This will be a staggered rollout by model year.
We will share more once the rollout starts to 2021 model years.

If that is true Ford going to learn all that money and effort they had for conquest buyers which most Mach E buyers were are going to turn around and give huge middle fingers to Ford as they are not nearly as forgiving as their average ford buyers. The normal buys that they can treat like crap and still will come crawling back for their next car.

I think the force leadership is under estimating how many of the 2021 mach E buyers will stay with ford if they do that. Instead they are risking all of them turning against ford and even later models see how buys get treated less than 3 years later.
