I have access to fdrs but I think it is more than just doing the updates. I think you have to adjust some of the settings within the updates.
There are a couple of Forscan edits to make AFTER you do the FDRS work.
Very simple, and easy enough to get by just asking

As I said, there’s a lot more than “it’s technical”/“it’s easy”. Have you ever tried to teach an old person how to set the time on their VCR? (Very old joke.)

So you’re saying that the OTA for MY21s that would provide BlueCruisr 1.3 may be named something other than IPMA-24.204.8.27? Well, we had PowerUp 7.0.X, then PowerUp 10.0.X, then IPMA-XX.XXX.X.XX so I guess they could come up with yet something else?
In FDRS, it's far less confusing. Each update is simply labeled as belonging to a specific module.
You want the IPMA update, you click IPMA and then click download/run. Then follow the prompts on the screen. It's not neurosurgery and the FDRS thread is a rich history of many hundreds of updates by folks that have gone before you.

I believe the software has to be made available for your specific VIN. If PowerUp 7.X/PowerUp 10.X/IPMA-X/whatever crazy name Ford chooses this week, isn’t available for your VIN, all the FDRSing in the world won’t get BlueCruise 1.X | X >=3 on your car.
It would be rather odd for any VIN in the USA to NOT have the necessary updates available. But if anyone wonders, they simply ask here on the forum and a couple of amazingly generous gentlemen on this forum will look and verify before you spend a nickel.

I was the manager that the engineers would roll their eyes over whenever I walked in the test lab. They knew that my mere presence would “jinx” their “perfect” hardware. And this would be before I sat down at the controls and tried to do something that “made sense”. I was great at rapidly identifying previously unknown failure modes ?
The software architect where I worked a couple of decades ago said I should be promoted to Chief Woodpecker because of the way I could poke holes in all of his designs. I wore that with pride. :)

My BC renewal, which I signed up for last Dec for my Job 1.. when there was anticipation on updates based on FORD'S communications, now feels... overpriced. And overhyped.

"Coming soon...{never hehe}" (tm)
Yeah, I haven’t renewed mine because I want to see them deliver to all vehicles before I commit my money to a 3 year subscription to help them work on features I’ll never get.

There was a chart that showed which models were eligible for which BC. Is that still available from Ford somewhere or has that disappeared?

i got this reply this morning 10/24/24 6:42am after my inquiry sent yesterday 10/23/24 (fast response). granted it’s boiler plate, but it didn’t say 2021s are not getting it…

So happy to hear you’re loving your Mustang Mach-E!

We know that 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owners with BlueCruise-equipped vehicles are eagerly awaiting the delivery of BlueCruise 1.3.

I can confirm that 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owners with BlueCruise-equipped vehicles (which includes you as a 2021 owner) will be eligible for the BlueCruise 1.3 update. We are deploying this as a staggered rollout by model year. Every model year is unique and requires a different software package. While 2022 and 2023 Mustang Mach-E updates are currently underway, we don’t have an update to share for 2021 Mach-Es just yet.

I know you’re probably looking for a more definitive timeline, but as soon as we have more to share, we will!

Thanks,
xxxxx

Well... I'd agree the rollout is definitely staggering... It may have fallen over completely.

I wonder what the take would be if they made it available to MY21 as a PAID dealer install?
I bet it would be a big payment... ~$100 per hour X ~5 hours plus set up and clean up.

I loan Mongooses for free and everybody knows it. Anyone can borrow a windows laptop from someone and if not, I have one I can also loan out. Unfortunately, I cannot help provide testicular fortitude to anyone scared of messing something up. However, I can help them fix it in the unlikely event that something goes wrong.

With that said, my main point was that 2021 vehicles are being abandoned. It's a ridiculous conclusion based on nothing other than owners of said vehicles not getting what they want when they want it.
I agree that the cars are not abandoned. But I also think most would agree that we would like to see the the OTA process go much faster.

It's my guess that most MME owners would have no prayer of getting through the FDRS process which leaves them the OTA route as the only solution.

This is true. About every 6 months I bring my car up to date with FDRS and it has gone well. And I am grateful for the help I have gotten in this forum. At the same time, my wife who is reasonably tech savy would not be able to sort out the power supply connection to the car to do this. The OTA process really needs to go faster.

I remember seeing on the github site that lists all the power ups for the Mach E and seeing seperate updates for the 2021 to get the BC 1.3

I get it. I had an engineer once tell me that he thought I was a great manager because I would keep asking questions. I never just “accepted” the first answer ?

Updates are not always so easy. I had someone update my 2021 to be able to open the frunk remotely and that update went thru smoothly. There were 2 other updates showing so we decided to do those and one kept failing. When i drove home my BC wouldn’t activate anymore. I had To take it to a dealer for them to fix it.
