Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power - unable to shift into gear

My car exhibited this message ten days ago and realizing the car was nearly 3 years old and at 46K miles I chalked it up to a failing LVB and prematurely replaced the battery using Rewards points. The new battery did not fix the problem and the car was towed to a nearby dealership. The problem was severe as alerts were: Service Vehicle Soon (SVS) and Parking Brake something. The car would not shift into gear and was fundamentally disabled. They diagnosed the problem as needing updates to modules. They updated the modules and sent us on our way last Tuesday. Multiple trips in the car since then but after a 125 mile drive this morning my wife had the same issue two hours from the house. Car is being towed to a dealership near the failure and expect an update tomorrow or Wednesday. Has anyone else encountered this problem recently?

It could be the HVJB melted contactors. Hope it gets fixed quickly. Did you have the Recall done for this?

Yes the newest version HVBJB was put in January at roughly 30K miles. When the HVBJB failed then it just reduced power and was drivable until it could get to the dealer. Now it worked for a week after being at the dealer and for a second time went into the SVS mode and unable to shift into gear. I am curious to what the failure is.

Looks like Mike G pulled your codes on the FDRS thread. Parking pawl issue, likely related to a harness or connector, possibly an internal short to ground. Your servicing dealer should see the same codes and be able to further diagnose. I hope they get it fixed quickly. ??

Thanks - at the moment I am 125 miles away and the tow truck driver failed getting it into neutral so he left. Talking to dealership on options to get it to them.

Update - Service manager confirmed that with this fault there is not a way to get it out of park / brake engaged. He is going to car (less than 0.5 mile from dealership) with the intent of clearing code and see if it can be put into neutral.

Update III - Three companies were dispatched yesterday to tow the car 0.5 miles to the dealership. The first two did not show (the second had been on site and failed the previous day). Third driver was able to get the car to the dealership. Park Solenoid has been ordered. Rear Motor will require removal for the replacement. Awaiting time update currently but really don't expect it back until sometime next week.

Update IV - car has been at dealership 13 days. Tech diagnosed the first day that the parking pawl solenoid needed to be replaced. Part was ordered and arrived three days later. Tech apparently had others ahead so job was not anticipated to be completed until day 9. During repair an O-ring was damaged and had to be ordered. It arrived on day 12 and work is underway with an ETA of completion on day 14.
