Just about 4 threads of contact with a wildcat left-hand thread. This is a totally abbie-normal thread. ?‍♂?
There’s a reason and some logic to that. I don’t know what it is though. :p

Wonder what’s up with left hand threads.
My guess is that it’s to lessen the chance of someone buying a random hook in hopes that it’ll do the job and then having it fail to catastrophic results.

I had read that it was due to the direction of the helix of winch cables (stretching the cable turns it counter-clockwise, so it prevents the loosening of the eye hook). That said, I do not know that for fact. I don’t care that it’s left-handed, just that it’s a wildcat thread that requires a very custom tap. That is the reason I never followed through with putting a threaded receiver into my 2021’s front bumper.

Yeah they added that. Wonder if there's threads under the rear bumper now too.
Not sure if there is a threaded hole in the bumper, but there is no access door on the rear bumper cover. I would guess that because there is no way to access a hole, there is no hole. ??

That was going to be my second guess. ?

Here’s something else I noticed. The area of the roof around the shark fin antenna used to be a semicircular piece all its own and painted black. Now the roof covers all the way back to the lift gate and is the color of the rest of the roof. Oddly, the shark fin is still black. ??

They should go with white shark fins. Car is blue. Ocean is blue. Oceanic White Tips are badass predators. Mach-e’s hunt for unsuspecting ice cars to stomp off the light. Thus, white tip antenna is fitting.

Make it so Ford

Steve, have you considered getting your roof wrapped gloss black? I think it really brings together the look of the entire top of the car. Perfectly blends in with the windshield and rear liftgate glass. In my opinion gives the car a more finished appearance and it's inexpensive to have done.

I was thinking of doing the opposite. I liked the look of the body colored roof on my 2021 so I was thinking of painting the antenna in GB Metallic. ??

I got to see Mark’ gloss black wrapped roof. While the amount of light wasn’t great, it looked cool. The iridescence of the paint is also really cool. It’s got turquoise, pink, and gold flecks in the metallic flake. ??

It was basically dark out so yes I need to stop by during the day so you can see it a bit better which will be in about 3 weeks. ?

Hey Josh, a couple of weeks ago, you asked me these questions on another member's thread which was about ventilated seats so didn't want to keep replying and hijack his thread.

Hey Mark, in your opinion, is replacing the front door windows (with laminated) a worthy upgrade?

In your experience, is there a discernable difference between the laminated and tempered glass with regard to wind and road noise?
My reply was:
I don't feel there is a huge difference between the acoustic and non acoustic front driver/passenger door windows. I've driven in cars with both and there seemed to be very little difference that I could tell.

WELL, yesterday I drove 3 hours to a dealership to pick up my '24 GT that I purchased (sight unseen over the phone actually). My '21 GT had the acoustic (laminated) front side windows and driving back home 3 hours in my new '24 GT I kept checking the driver's window to make sure it was up. I kept hearing more wind noise buffeting around the mirror than when I drove down. Not only that, I heard large trucks in the lane to the left more than normal. Now, while I cannot say it was much louder, it was definitely more noticeable. When I got home, I looked at the front side windows and they are NOT acoustic (laminated) like my '21 had.

One of the first things I do on a new vehicle is have the front side windows tinted to match the rears but I am holding off on this as I might purchase the front side windows in the acoustic version first. It's about $700 for two new acoustic windows including shipping so trying to decide. I will keep you informed.

UPDATE:
I bought the laminated glass windows for the front driver/passenger doors, had my detail guy tint the glass, then I installed them. I'm back to having less noticeable wind noise from the mirror and less traffic noise. There is NO difference in road noise that I can tell so not sure if spending the money for you is worth it. Road noise comes from tires and replacing these windows won't change that. All you are doing is reducing mirror wind buffeting noise and traffic going by and this will only be noticeable as long as you are on a decent road with low tire noise. To me it was worth it as every little bit I can do to make the interior a better place to be, I will do it.

By the way, replacing the windows could not be easier. You remove the door panel and there are two inspection holes covered by tape right in the middle of the window regulator panel. Remove the tape, lower the window down about half way until you see the clips in the inspections holes. With a small punch or screwdriver, release the two clips and lift the window right out of the door. You need to turn it at about a 45˚ angle to remove it. The new window drops right in and easily clips back into the channel. Nothing to align, or adjust. I don't think it took me more than 30 minutes to do both doors start to finish.

Mark, first off, congrats on your new '24 GT! Can't wait to see how you modify it. You must be only one of the few that is already on their 3rd MME. Tell me you like the car without telling me you like the car. ;)

Regarding the side windows, I've been ruminating on the thought of replacing mine with laminated glass. As a matter of fact, I've had a few windows sitting in my eBay wishlist for weeks now.

It's sounds like (pun intended) a fairly simple way to make the cabin a slightly more pleasant place to spend time in. I do experience wind noise from the mirror especially above 40 mph. Would it be great to drown that out some? Absolutely! I'm just not sure if the value proposition makes sense for me.

Either way, thank you for following up with your assessment. I always look forward to your replies.

Thanks Josh and yes, I LIKE THE CAR! ?

Regarding the acoustic windows, it's one of those things.... Do you really need to do this? No. Do you want to do this? Yes. Is it worth doing? For most people, I would say it's not but there are a few of us that will go to great lengths to to quiet down the interior of a car even if it doesn't make much sense because of the cost.

As far as modding the car, I'm pretty much done. Since I've had two others, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and did everything within a much shorter time than over a period of a couple of months. Also didn't mod as much as I did on the others but you never know, might add something here or there. My mods are always listed in my Showcases below.
