Mileage range drastically drops from 240 (100% charge) to 170 after driving only 20 miles. Why does it do this?
Yes - temp, driving speed, terrain, etc will affect range. Even on the go! There are many threads on this subject so it is easy to do some research. Expect up to 40% loss in winter. Great thing is in Spring it comes back. But I have never seen a post about unexpected range increase!

And it also happens to ICE vehicles. Driving 70mph into a headwind at 5 degrees and your gas miles to empty guessmeter will start dropping faster than expected also.

Just usually isn’t something gas drivers have to give a lot of thought. Though I will say there was a point over Thanksgiving where I started to question if there was a gas station in the next 100 miles or if I was about to get screwed.

The uphill thing is real. I've had Ford Navigation say I could make it to my destination and the GOM say I can't. Makes me nervous even though it shouldn't.

Thanks for joining.

I see you have a 2021.
Did you recently purchase?

I see it was 19F this morning in North Carolina?

Sadly I’ve had Ford navigation tell me I can, then can’t, then can on the same trip lol.

Um, maybe the weather ?

Mileage estimate went from 240 down to 170 when driven only a few miles. That's a 70 mile change that occurred suddenly. I've had the car since 2021 so have gone through winters here in NC. I know about mileage estimate being lower in winter. This time however it jumped from 240 to 170 almost immediately, while driving. <--THAT'S what seems abnormal to me.

I suspect the 240 mile estimate was a stale value that should have been adjusted down before you even backed out of the driveway.
Or put another way, the algorithm that takes so many various parameters into account, must have lagged for some reason.
