That Mach E is shadow black, is that metallic? Just thinking about the swirls in the black paint on an ex lease makes me shiver

I don't think it is a metallic paint. I'm not sure whether it is an ex lease car or not as it is a little newer than most but the website does say it's immaculate. We like the grey or black options, so you raise a good point and I might look at the Glacier Grey which I think looks metallic.

Ours is Space White which isn’t particularly white at all, personally think it does the Mach e real justice. The paintwork seems to take on a Bluey, grey in certain light and looks stunning IMO

I’ve had 3 (bought new new) black cars. One was just black and two pearl black. The swirls were horrible?

I went for a Star white Mach-e and it is the perfect coat for me?

OK thanks, I think we need to look at the different colour options a little more as we haven't seen many of them in person.

yes well worth having a look in person, I was even tempted by the yellow one as in the flesh looks pretty bloody good

Hi,

Does anyone have any advice? Are there reasons I should buy a 2022 or 2023 model over a 2021 model for example? Were there any early teething problems I should be aware of that were resolved in newer models? I’ve read a bit about the contactors recall and something to do with the glass roof.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi - I have also been looking at used Mach E as I would love one. Have you noticed Ford seems to be the only seller that doesnt sell approved used Mach E. Not sure if its to do with not many sold in uk.

Skoda/ Volkswagos / Cupra all sell approved used electric cars with 2 years warranty.

In USA they can get cheap warranty direct from ford for peanuts. I went on the ford warranty site and added used 2022 Standard range Mach E and was quoted £1200 for a year warranty.

Most UK garages selling used Mach E seems to be only 3 months warranty at best and thats with the 3rd party warranty companies.

Hi, you’re right I haven’t seen anything more than 3 months. There’s a couple of 2021 ones for sale at a fairly local Ford dealers. I might go in and enquire about the warranty.

Good luck - let me know how it goes. I really want a mach E but if it goes wrong then its expensive to to repair. Kinda of crazy that all the alternatives offer such great warranty plans .Not sure what Ford are playing at in the UK. ( Americans get it so good and can buy used with no problems at all )

Wow, £1200 for a year!! I was lucky; the dealer I bought my 2021 from had bought a Ford Protect 8 Year/100k miles warranty when he registered the demonstrator car. This is on top of the usual 8 year warranty on the battery and powertrain. It cost £1,570 when the car was new so I’m fortunate to be fully covered until September 2029. Hopefully you can find a used MME with the extended warranty on it; it is transferable between owners.

Wow thats amazing ! do you know if is for all demonstrator cars or was it the case of the right place and right time with that car.

I have called a few places up and they said just the warranty left on the ford official warranty,

Not seen anything about extra warranty included in any car i have looked so far ( that lasts that long anyway )

I did a quick google and its a common one for american cars and can only be bought before the car is registered in the uk.

Just did a warranty at Ford Protect for a 2022 AWD ER Mach E and its slightly over £1200 a year

I know the cars don't go wrong that much for people but its still under the 3 year warranty. Out of warranty repairs are expensive ( been lurking on usa and uk reddit and forums )

Interesting about the warranty situation.

Am at 105,000 miles, not a lot went wrong that would’ve cost after the warranties expired.

I think if you check battery SoH and give it a good look over & test drive there’s not much will go wrong ?

Nearly changed mine for another new one or the Capri or Explorer at Christmas but the new so-called equivalent Mach-e don’t have all the bells & whistles mine has and the other two are VWs so use the froot for the electric engine which is no good to me.

Decided to stick with mine.

Had the transmission oil analysed and with only some minor particulate wear in there so will re-sample periodically and decided to stick with it, EV SoH is at 93.5% and only thing which may wear out if ever is a transmission which comprises the motor also and they’re c£5,500 which I’d lose on a new car just rolling it out the showroom.

I never buy additional warranties, ever, for anything, underwrite my own losses and feel I’m quids in so happy to continue with the old nag.

They really are bloody good cars, a joy to drive and IMO are drop-dead gorgeous with nods to the traditional Mustang styling.

Go on, dive in, the water’s fine?

Arnold Clark were happy to sell me an EV extended warranty on my 21. It doesn't cover battery but the ford warranty does for 100k. Was around £400 I think?

Cheers for that - was that the proper ford protect warranty or was it the usual third party warranty ( 3rd parties one are not great - I speak from experience ) - was it one years or 3 years extra ?
