Bambu is taking a while to get the Black ASA and TPU that I ordered shipped, but I got impatient and decided to print a prototype with some materials I had laying around.

I printed from the individual .stl files and it looks like the barb/grommet holes in the top side of the main plate might've been omitted from that upload. The .3mf file does seem to have them (so I'll print from that file once I've got my new filament in), but @Gullwingdmc was this intentional? If not, you might want to fix the uploads on Printables and Makerworld.

The main plate was done in dark gray ASA and looks pretty good except for an odd surface texture issue on the upper quadrant of the top side.

The cover pieces were done in some blue PLA I'm trying to get rid of, and they seem to fit fine aside from the missing hole issue. I wasn't really expecting much from this version in the wrong material, so... expectations... met?

Thanks again for this, @Gullwingdmc! I'll post pictures of the final version once my materials come in.

It’s so cool to see someone printing something I made!

The snap pieces were not intentionally left out, so thank you for the heads up. When I’m back home I’ll take a look. The split and connectors was done inside of Bambu Studio and then I exported the STLs from there, so I assumed it would export them as they were in the program. I guess I should have checked.

I was going to ask about the upper right. Was that an issue with the print, or are you seeing something in the files. I haven’t experienced that issue.

I just tried to re-export the STLs from Bambu Studio and for whatever reason it will not export the base with the holes. I tried exporting as a generic 3MF file too and still no luck. Any ideas on this?

Finally figured it out. Bambu does not make it easy, but there is a work around. I update the STL on Printables and MakerWorld if you want to check it out.

Thanks! I’ll give it a shot next week once the filament shows up.

Which is funny now in 2024 because every no-name piece of junk charger on Amazon works with MagSafe, but I know that MagSafe was just coming out when the Mach-E was in development. As you say, hopefully in next gen.
It's funny... The wireless charger in our 2022 Bronco Sport works flawlessly with any phone we've tried. Even my iPhone 15 Pro Max that is not in a MagSafe case. The charger in every other Ford we have -- several company vehicles, my son's 2021 Bronco Sport, my Lightning, etc.. all are super flaky and often don't work even with cases off.

But yes, it's truly sad. Any $3 crap charger from AliExpress works fine. But Ford can't seem to make one that works, nor be bothered with actually testing to see if it works. FWIW, the wireless charger in our 2020 Model Y, and a friend's 2022 Model Y, are just as useless. I don't get how these car companies are so bad at this.

Okay, I’ve got the base about halfway done using a fresh roll of black Bambu ASA on my office X1E. If anyone else attempts this in the future, I was having bed-adhesion issues with the Bambu brand ASA filament and profile until I pre-treated it with a glue stick. Ironically some old Zortrax ASA and the generic profile had worked fine previously.

I’ll get the TPU pad and cover print going on my A1 mini at home tonight. I haven’t worked with TPU before, so it might be rough. ?

Make sure you dry the TPU. I didn’t and it turned out as hard as PLA.

Even fresh out of the sealed bag? I’ll borrow a dryer from work, I guess.
Yeah. I mean it was fine for the top of the pad, but when I tried to print the textured mat surface it was hard.

My MagSafe iPhone works with the wireless charger as well as my android does. All of the automakersā€˜ Qi chargers suck; it’s not just Ford. They overheat.
