A failed 12V battery cannot be charged. It just happened to me.So why can't the 12V be charged by the HVB? 25% battery is still quite a bit. Algorithm should prioritize 12V health.
Are we staring at a potential similar situation as the Hyundai/Kia EVs are facing in the last couple of years with their 12V Battery?
@Ford Motor Company ???
They also need to get the app to display 12V battery SOC.They need to hurry up and add a warning when the battery is reaching the end of its life.
While true, it’s Ford responsibility to inform the driver that the battery is in such bad shape that it needs replacement. Failure to do so should automatically default the fault to Ford, as we should expect a form of battery monitoring in a 60 000 dollar car.A failed 12V battery cannot be charged. It just happened to me.
The car was "completely disabled" (nothing worked!), but "the car locked"? Huh? How?When she got out of the car to go grab our infant son, the car became completely disabled. Nothing worked! The car locked and neither the key or either of our phones could unlock it.
And an emergency key hole somewhere.They need to hurry up and add a warning when the battery is reaching the end of its life.
We have seen these reports here. No warning, get off the car, close the door, and can't open it again. Remember that all locks are electronic.The story is possible, even plausible, but...
What does this mean?
The car was "completely disabled" (nothing worked!), but "the car locked"? Huh? How?
It locked but then it wouldn't unlock?
Color me skeptical until more information than a Reddit post shows up.
Except if the door isn’t locked you’re supposed to be able to double press the button and the super capacitors still open the door.We have seen these reports here. No warning, get off the car, close the door, and can't open it again. Remember that all locks are electronic.
A simple: “You accessory power battery (12V) is reaching end of its life. Ford recommends changing it soon to prevent potential unwanted behavior. Order service appointment here (link)”.And the warning says what?
"Caution, if the 12V battery reaches end of life, your Mustang Mach E can become completely disabled and possibly lock your elderly passengers, children, or pets in your car. This is especially dangerous in summer months when dangerous and life-threatening temperatures inside the vehicle can be reached within a matter of minutes."
That surely will help with sales.
