We got down below 0 last night and it looks like my heater might have bit it. Car was plugged in last night, preconditioned on set time but was ice cold.

It's not blowing any warmth and the heater pipe by the brake reservoir is ice cold. Car scanner seems to show no sign of life. I'm sure it will be a dealer call, but anything I'm missing?

Please check for any short spikes in Coolant Heater Power kW (in Data Recording). If the coolant was frozen, there was no flow through the PTC heater unit, so the PTC core would overheat straight away.

PTC heaters have a built-in self-protection, will automatically drop current with rising internal temperature and turn off when overheating. Not sure how many times MME would attempt to run the PTC in such scenario, but I would check for any DTC error codes in memory.

All should use C but the battery is at -10C as well as coolant inlet temp. The engine coolant temp is 13C at A and -9C at B. Not sure if it would shut off if it was plugged. I know the old water pumps bolted onto V8's didn't shut down if it was running. ;)

A dealer filled one of ours up with water one summer. I found that out quick when it got cold. Wonder if it was distilled ;). I know with 2 HVJB it is my dealer for the coolant. I know coolant also deteriorates over time.

Engine Coolant Temperature (B) shows actual coolant temperature.

Engine Coolant Temperature (A) always displays 59 F (15C) winter or summer in my MME, and never fluctuates. Probably bug in the app.

Car is going into the dealer today. They were concerned, like I was, about potential battery concerns if it cannot manage heat. They are trying to work it in their rotation ASAP.

I did monitor it from startup and there is no power at all going to the heater according to CarScanner at least.

UPDATE: Kudos to my dealer for working the car in so quickly with their one EV tech. The heater itself is dead. New part is 3 days out (from Wednesday) and then they say it is a quick install.

Car is out of warranty but this is all covered under ESP thankfully.

It would be interesting to know if it burnt out trying or just a defect.

Today's Update.... Tech says the job is much bigger then the service writer believed based on Ford's estimate. Hopefully get the car back tomorrow after many hours of work for him.
