Called last Thursday to ask for a buyback on our GT and we got the approval 3 days later.

It’s unfortunate as the car itself is great when it’s not at the dealer getting fixed. But the time has come to move on. It would be one thing If there seems to be an actual solution to the problem. But when I see brand new 24’s melting contractors on hvbjb’s just like ours does it was not a hard decision to make.

Now what to replace it with?

Congrats on the buyback coming through quickly. What vehicle do you have that is being bought back? I initiated the process for my 24 Premium but when their buy back offer wasn’t what I was looking for, we settled upon other terms and I’ll just wait for the car to be fixed.
I’m interested in hearing how your process goes from the buyback being approved to the car being turned over and money in hand.

When you say wasn’t what you were looking for what do you mean? Where yo just looking for them to give you some money back and keep the car? Or did they offer to buy it back but offer you less money or something like that?
We aren’t even interested in seeing what they might offer in compensation if we kept the car. We just want them to take the car back.

Already have an 08 Supercharged Saleen and a 15 Anniversary 5.0 so I’m good. Plus I hate to say it but the new body style on the mustangs don’t do it for me. Too square in too many places. Reminds me of when they went from the edge to the new edge mustang. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse it did. Lol

From my perspective, I wouldn't purchase another Ford. The quality (or lack of) pales in comparison to the non domestic brands. I have owned a few Fords in my life Examples (2010 Focus-2008 Mustang-2022 MME) and the build quality both inside and out were quite poor in comparison to the Honda's and Toyota's and Lexus that I have owned in the past and currently.

I purchased the MME because Consumer Reports found it to be "good" but it is anything but.

I have been burnt on all domestic brand cars in the last 20 years and unless they change drastically, I will never purchase another one.

It is sad because I really think many domestic brands are better looking (including the Mustangs) but they are very subpar once you get past their looks.

Good Luck!!

Having just bought the car recently, I would have taken too much of a hit if I took their buyback offer. So we settled and will just wait until the fix is complete. I am currently using a loaner Bronco Sport from the dealer and I’m hopeful it will be returned soon. If the problem pops back up, I can always revisit the buy back options.
It really sucks that this car is plagued with the HVBJB problem even after 4 years.
Do you plan to stay with an EV?

Most likely it will be a bmw i4 M50. Or possibly an iX. My wife wants to go with a rivian but I can’t justify the price of them. Maybe a lucid lease?
There are a few certified M50’s in our area for around 45k and for the money that’s one bad ride!

Interesting. So did they low ball you? How recent was the purchase and how much was the hit?

I am in the buyback process (have not received an offer yet) because of a bad paint job. Otherwise the car is a dream (I test drove Acura and Lexus EVs as a comparison) and build quality is solid.

The service department at the same dealership I bought it from went straight to buyback option. Which I find strange. Why would they even sell me the car in the first place?

Ford's unwillingness to correct is like having a worker who is unwilling to work. A worker who is willing but not all that able often can find a niche that works. Ford is not only unwilling but also opposed to correct things.

Very nice. We love our MME Premium, but it is no GT. We have the 2004 40th 2V.

Reminds me of the days in the 70's with the Detomaso Pantera. I could write a book about that year that I bought my first one. At least when you drive (or tow) a MME into the dealer they know what it is, unlike taking a Pantera to a Lincoln Mercury dealer who sold them, and have their employees come out to see it, and say "so that's what they look like".
