I think the BlueCruise is nicely packaged, just a tad too expensive.

I love the fact that Ford allows a monthly payment on BlueCruise.
People complain about the $50 monthly charge but it isn't outrageous. More on that later.
The best part is that by charging monthly, instead of rolling it into the price of the car, you save some money at the time of sale in the form of taxes. In NH we don't have sales tax but our yearly registration is based on the initial value of the vehicle so it saves money every year.
I am currently using the free three-month trial.
I don't think I will pay for it after that but it is nice that I can. I assume you could turn it on for a long cross-country trip and then turn it off after completing that trip.
I paid $2,500 for my 2016 Tesla's auto-pilot. BluCruise is a bit superior to that in that it has truly hands free driving. It also does better in keeping you in your lane than that ancient Tesla hardware did.
Based on the yearly subscription of $495, and adjusting for inflation, you would have paid the same amount after month 79. The average age of cars on the road is older than that. Still, that is a long time to have a car, especially an EV. (Having said that, my wife's Kia Soul EV is 8 and she won't give it up).
I am trying to think of a no-brainer monthly price I would pay, maybe $25. Since it cost Ford nothing to turn it on, you would think they would experiment with lower pricing. Better to have 80% of drivers pay $25 than 30% pay $50.
Do they send out any offers after you fail to sign up after your trial?

No offers for me when my 3 month trial ended. I paid for one more month but then canceled.. Just cannot justify $50 per month. Some got a free renewal year on Ford Pass but i did not. 2024 Premium RWD Extended Range, leased in Sep 2024.

BlueCruise has gone through multiple price revisions. Right now, I believe you can order for lifetime for something like $2,100 or $2,500, or you get the 3 month trial. The $50 monthly was launched a few months ago with the reduced annual, which used to be $800. Yes, you can get it for just a month, it will be interesting to see when you sign up how fast it kicks in. Tesla membership and EA membership kicks in instantly, but they don't require things to be turned on in a vehicle and/or updated in the vehicle.

Many threads over the years. Initial pricing was $600 for 3 years. Then it went to $2,100 for 3 years. The "take", i.e. acceptance of renewal, was very low, so pricing dropped.

2024 Premium AWD Extended Range here. I turned in my leased 2021 in Dec last year. My free subscription will expire next week. No free offer, did not expect one. Although it's much improved over the version in my 2021, I don't use it enough to justify paying the monthly fee.

If I was commuting an hour or more daily on highways I would probably talk myself into it yearly. But the saving grace for me is the monthly option in case I go on a very long road trip once a year maybe twice. I do wish it was more like $30 for a month option.

Totally agree with you. My 3 month trial is over and I paid for this month. I would really love to keep Blue Cruise, but $50 a month is a bit too much. I would pay $30 and keep it, but I will likely cancel soon, since I do not go on road trips, and do not use it enough to justify $50.

I signed up for 1 month a week ago and it activated immediately. I used FP points.

BC subscription makes about as much sense as BMW charging a subscription for heated seats.

Hardware and software are already present on the vehicle. My observation from driving with BC for nearly 2.5 years that the "mapping data" is no more than a geofence; roads that Ford has verified don't have any issues that would disqualify it from being used hands free. Other than that, it uses the sensors on the vehicle for actual lane keeping.

It would make sense to pay for a subscription if you wanted to have updates to the system (there haven't been any area updates since I bought my car in October 2022) but none to just use what is currently installed in the car. Because of that, I will not pay an extra dime for the hands free feature, even though I do use it nearly every day.

you pay for subscriptions because the system gets better over time. BC rarely if ever gets updated on existing cars. it is not worth the $1000 upgrade. maybe for $500 i am willing to keep it permanently. either way the hardware that drives the software in all Ford cars is abysmal to the degree that it is 5 years behind current norms, let alone future proofing.

Not wanting to start a new thread on Bluecruise subscription renewal, I’ll add my observations and question to this one. On our 2025 Mach E Premium, my wife and I find this to be an amazing feature that makes our frequent trips from the Catskill Mountain area to NJ to visit family much less fatiguing. I realize not for everyone but for us it works great. Our 3 month trial ends in January and we plan to renew. We are being offered a monthly renewal price of $49.99 or an annual renewal of $495 a year. Certainly not inexpensive and I can see how Mach E owners that may not get much opportunity to use it may pass on the renewal. For us though we plan to renew and taking the year subscription makes the most sense. We did though read somewhere that Ford offered a one time lifetime subscription. Has anyone taken this? Is it still available and what is the cost? We have a 6 year 0% loan on the car and if all goes to plan will keep it as long as possible. If I reach 10 years I would be very happy. At the annual renewal rate ( assuming it doesn’t increase) that would be a $5k accumulated cost. A lifetime price would have its own risks if the car gets in an accident or we have issues forcing us to sell it. I would though consider it assuming it is significantly less.

Lifetime is only an option if vehicle is ordered with it. The monthly option is the most sensible for folks, sign up the morning of a trip, cancel at month end. Breakeven of monthly at $49.99 vs yearly at $495 is 9.9 months. Few people travel 10 months of the year, so unless you have a highway commute...

Thanks for clarifying that lifetime subscription must be part of a factory order and not available as an add on a car without it purchased from dealer inventory. That’s too bad as we would have certainly gone for it . We make several trips a month back and forth to NJ on the NYS Thruway so it really makes sense to get the yearly subscription for 17% less versus monthly.. We look forward to kicking in the Bluecruise and now even maximize the time we drive on roads that offer it. . My observation is this is teaching us to be better drivers. The car automatically handles speed, lane centering and lane changing allowing us to focus on observing other drivers and anticipating what they may do. It also reminds me if I spend too much time looking to the side to watch the road. I find this quite amazing.

At the one time purchase price, and assuming you use it every month, you would need to keep the car for six years.
