What is the purpose of the fake "key" stored inside the Fob?
It looks like a key, but it is totally smooth.

There is no purpose to it. That’s why it’s not cut. It’s just so Ford could reuse the key fob from the rest of the lineup.

In the EU they have a switch to disable the air bag for the front passenger located on the cover panel to the side of the glove box. The blank key is inserted into that switch to enable and disable the air bag.

Other Ford vehicles also use the blank key for enabling and disabling child locks on the rear doors.

It's likely that they just have all key fobs the same.

To pry open the access door for the dead battery terminals?
No. The fob has a battery. To replace it you have to split the thing in two, it’s a bit hard to do without something to pry it apart at the proper spot. The fake key works for that.

The access door in the front bumper
Should just pull out — push, turn and slip it out.

It's a self defense weapon for pacifists. You can prod someone to death with it.

“push, turn and slip it out.”

You did not really say that

You can file the end of it to a point and use it as a hidden prison shank for emergencies.
