If it's really truly 5* rated in collisions as claimed, then it's not exactly the stereotype tin can approach to cheap/inexpensive.
I agree that it still must compete in the "value equation" arena, but it isn't exactly a crowded space in the ~$20K arena.

I'd love to see some clever accessories/options in the "utility" category. Especially things like overlanding, camping, solar charging,......

It would also be cool if they address it for flat towing.

It's virtually the same size as the '84 Toyota pickup. And with the backing of Bezos It could well have staying power. If you look at the specs of compact cars from the 80's they all seem tiny compared to the behemoths on the road these days.

I saw this a few days ago and got a reservation for $50. I'll wait and see what the final cost will be but they are advertising less than $20k after the $7500 rebate/credit.

2 battery sizes, 150mile and 240 mile range. We recently moved into a city and our neighborhood is very walkable. This looks like a great option for a second vehicle for us to use in the city and take the dogs to the dog park. We have a very small alley garage (16' deep) and this will fit. Our current Mach E does fit with little room to walk behind with the garage door closed.

It's certainly not for everyone, may not even be suitable for us....time will tell. $50 is a cheap price to get in line and see

I’ll be watching this for the teens in my home becoming new drivers in the near future. While safety will be #1 priority, an ev that isn’t a hot rod and is $20k is very enticing for this use case.

for me though, 0-60 in 8 secs, no way.

$50 is cheap, but I kinda hate that this is an allowable business practice.

$50 gets you…… basically nothing.

But for the company they get a multi-million dollar interest free loan and they use those “reservation numbers” to try to convince customers that there is a huge demand or interest when in reality very few of these cheap deposits turn into orders.

Plus they can just change the price, details, etc whenever they like.

It’s called a base model. No car company wants to sell you one which is why you rarely find one new on a dealer lot. This is not a new idea. Also no dealer wants to sell you one for the same reason.

I thought you had to order these trucks and the buyer will have the last say on how it arrives?

I’m very skeptical about company ability to keep low price. I’m afraid that real production version will cost $30k after tax credit. The next step would be cost of accessories…. As result we’ll get EV SUV with $50k price tag and very low range with slow DC charging speed .

Marketwise, It is in its own lane which is really hard to do. I wish them success.

It's real competition is not new two row EVs... its 5 year old used EVs. Think 5 year old MME, or Ioniq5.
