They told me the car MAY be a service vehicle but they won’t know till it arrives.
That doesn’t make any sense. Somebody at the dealership knows because somebody had to place the order. I’d push for an answer without having to wait until it arrives.

Well, crap. Guess I didn’t get lucky. That’s what it shows on the tracker page. You’d think the sales manager would know that. I’ll probably still drive out and see them anyways. You never know what ends up happening.

So, while it isn't spoken for, if the dealer follows proper procedures, you would be getting a demo car after everyone has played with it for a few months. Probably lots of 0-60 cycles, too!

Nah. What am I gonna do? Take my money and go buy one at a different dealer this weekend? If it turns out to not be for sale, then I'll just wait on the one that I ordered. I know in about 3 weeks.

Oh don't worry CC, when yours arrives I am sure the dealer will have the entire dealership go for test drives first. :p :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I would just wait and see, looking around I see other dealers have sold to non reservation holders, worse case you already have an order in.

Good luck either way!

So here is the update. I’m at the dealership and I’m leaving a $500 deposit. They told me the car MAY be a service vehicle but they won’t know till it arrives. They said they have 2 en route and they don’t know which will be their loaner. So, I just have to wait a few weeks to find out for sure. They are honoring X Plan pricing and have already told me what that price will be. Infinite Blue EX.
Makes sense. Sounds like they are checking with their regional rep to approve the retail sale. Sounds normal and legit so far.

If they have two stock vehicles coming then they can both be FCTP or just one. If both, then the time and mileage requirements are less (2 months etc). If one, then that one FCTP vehicle has to meet the full requirements but the other can be sold right away.

From what I am told...they need approval from higher up but it is certainly possible.

Good luck!

Ya, I'll just have to wait and see. The car I want is Premium 4X. The other is a base Select. Neither have a name associated with it in the tracker. "My" car is in transit. The Select is still in production.

Did you ever get your car, or an answer? Turns out I'm in a similar boat. Dealer had one on the way, and I bought it (not just a deposit, the title process is already done) but now the order shows the same Stock (222S) (OBC8T)

How do you get a title for a car the dealer doesn't have?

It was already in their inventory and on its way out of Mexico

I'm not really concerned that they didn't physically have it. The only thing that made me even think about it in relation to this thread was that their other location had the same car in a different color on the way, and I wanted it but they couldn't sell it to me because it was a FCTP car and already into the FCTP program. This location already had a demo, though so I'm guessing that is the difference here

I don’t have the car or an answer yet. The tracker said it was supposed to be here last Saturday but it hasn’t show up yet. Still waiting. I may give them a buzz today and see if they know anything.

So, I did some digging and ran tracking searches on several non-Mach E cars on the lot of the dealer I went through and they all had the same codes so I don't think that necessarily means it is headed into a demo status

Many dealers were allowed to order a few MMe’s for their dealer ”stock.” They are allowed to sell them new (not demos, etc).

I obtained my FE in exactly this fashion (super low VIN number), and there was never an issue. If they took your deposit, then you should be fine.

Well, whether it turns out to be a good or bad idea we did 100% of the deal, not just a deposit. I legally already own it :)
